I am currently sitting in on my first for the day and I can't begin to fathom how clueless these folks are at doing basic tasks like getting information from a customer to produce a solution.

Of course since I'm in tech most of these lower tier guys are from overseas and while trying to understand half the shite they are saying, literally, their entire issue can be fixed with an RDP connection and firewall setup.

tOT baws, you have any great WebEx / Conference Call stories?

Dogs barking in the background or people who won’t mute their phones in general.

Had a conference call a few months back with a customer we have a large contract with. We were explaining some of the charges we had just invoiced them for because they thought the contract stated some of the services weren't billable.

When they realized their director screwed up the contract for them, they went to put their line on mute. Only problem was two people pressed the mute button at the same time so we could hear the owner cursing out this guy on the line.

Sometimes I just dial in, announce my name and go back to the kitchen to pour me another drink.

What were we talking about?

Had a buddy get fired from an accounting/ finance job because he was on some sort of go to meeting chat/ conference call and he had a chat window open that he didn't think the other side could see. Basically he was trash talking the other side with a coworker like you are in the OP, needless to say he was let go that afternoon.

I have a sticky note over my computer camera to halt any video that may get clicked on.

The surprise videos are sometimes pretty damned funny.

Conference Calls waste my time 100% of the time.

Just got off of one. The organizer didnt bother to cancel it. So I sat there with one other person for 8 minutes waiting. Just said frick it and hung up. Then I grabbed my phone, looked at the OT and saw this thread so I posted about it.

You should interact with customers more. They aren't always the best at getting you the info. And if you push to hard, they don't always like it. They want you to get them a solution without you making them feel like they aren't doing their job.

THAT is my biggest fear of chatting/OTing when on one of these. Double check that 'presenter' status.
