Not near to the level of China. China controls everything in their country. Plenty of non-Chinese sites are banned. Speak up against it and you’re in serious trouble. Meanwhile people in the US criticize the government on a hourly basis.

What about healthcare workers with kids? Restaurants? Grocery stores? These places have to stay open, but are also being asked to provide care for their children.

Dude, not a big deal. Their grandparents can watch them and hang out

Grow up. This isn’t a debate about social issues or politics. This is about everyone’s health, not just your own and not just those that are healthy. You’re being contrarian either for the sake of it or you’re really that close minded

Some Mr. Perfect you are.

Look at the impact rates. Kids can carry and not be impacted much at all. This forms a good conduit for transmitting disease from parent-to-parent and grandparent-to-grandparent, where there is really an impact.

If Louisiana can get off the ground actually testing there’s a chance we’ll have much better footing of where we stand in a month, and the only thing it costs is now little Johnny has to go to school a couple extra weeks at the end of the year - and it we’re being fair cutting 5th grade short a few weeks probably doesn’t hurt too much in the long run.

In the mean time we’re still on the exponential front end of a curve that we don’t have a good idea when/where it’s going to top out, due in part to the CDC’s patented “la la la la la” with fingers in their ears testing approach. All the more reason to try to slow it down.

Or people aren't blind to the difference in this reaction compared to the non-reaction to H1N1.

Alright I'm going to ask you again, are you talking about the coronavirus, with it's 41 deaths so far, or the flu which killed 34,000 people last season?

Am I supposed to shut down my life and hide in the house every winter now?

Now do the rates.

Are you implying something like this happens every winter? It is possible to think there are some overreactions happening while not going full retard like you're currently doing.

There are hundreds of contracted illnesses that kill millions every year. No one cared. Life went on. This is so fricking stupid.

No. We have nearly triple the number Italy does. (As someone has already pointed out with a graphic)

I love the people that have all of a sudden become experts on global healthcare and it's statistics and policies. Then they love to spout off incorrect numbers to show how smart they are.

I'm not implying anything. I'm pointing out that tens of thousands of people die every year due to complications with the flu virus. I've never been called insensitive for not bolting myself in my house until now though.
