You absolutely are.

And this is not the flu, so thanks for the irrelevant anecdote.

Or people aren't blind to the difference in this reaction compared to the non-reaction to H1N1.

Stop this silly argument. We should have responded to H1N1 much faster than we did. Just because things were handled poorly before doesn’t mean we have to make the same mistakes again.

No we shouldn’t have. We didn’t halt everything and the H1N1 killed 12k here. Not bad

Observation: the rate of new pages created in this thread has followed the same exponential curve as the virus

This isn't about comparing the virility of the viruses, it's comparing the reaction to people I don't know dying of a viral outbreak. You do realize that, correct?

Shouldn't we wait until the corona virus actually runs its course before we start tallying the numbers and comparing it to flu deaths?

And you realize that this is different because it's killing at a much higher rate, right?

I'm, going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you aren't stupid, so must be ignoring that just to keep arguing in this thread.

He is simply comparing caring about someone dying of the flu to caring about someone dying to covid-19

Apparently only covid-19 deaths hit people in the feels

It sounds like this is hard for you to realize how much this is going to suck if those numbers come here.

That's a lie. We were told the H1N1 response was fantastic.

So, at the peak we are going to have the equivalent of a 9/11 every three days. That’s acceptable.

Why does the rate at which something kills determine how I should feel about it killing?

I feel just as bad for the people who have died of the flu as I do for those with coronavirus, which seems to be the issue here.

So when Italy was reaching it's max capacity what should they have done?

This is why we said in the beginning that you need to get out ahead of it with a lot of testing. find the hot spots then funnel resources to that area and social distancing in that area only.

Our problem is we don't know where our problem is going to be. So that Is what is causing the shotgun approach with social distancing. No governor, mayor, etc. wants to be the next Wuhan or Lombardy.
