Apparently he's a legit doctor with a wikipedia page.

Before I switched to atmospheric/environmental sciences, I was pre-med and virology was my primary focus. Once I was gainfully employed by the man, I was added to a homeland security work group because of my background in virology. Over the years we mostly looked at mass animal death events but mass human death events were on the radar and that is some scary shite. The people who really know this stuff are terrified of a pandemic and it is just a matter of time until a real one hits.

Nice preemptive crawfishing position.

Watch fewer than a hundred Americans or so die from this in spite of widespread infection, but still claim a hypothetical and invisible additional tens of thousands dead in China.

Nice move. No one can argue against that. Wont even consider the possibility of those people are already being reported as dead....because China

I’ve openly said I don’t think this will be an issue in the states jackass.

I’ll tell you what I see the next time I make a trip over being as you obviously don’t make those trips and experience it first hand.

Going to stock up on ammunition, guns, and then head over to Costco to prepare for a 90 day supply of food. I’m not taking chances.

Also headed to HomeDepot to buy 5k sq ft of visqueen to wrap all of my windows and doors with internally and externally

So all a mad scientist would have to do is combine measles with ebola or pandemic flu and the world would be truly fricked

I don’t care. You didn’t share anything that wasn’t already common knowledge to anyone following China’s 50 year plan.

What exactly do you think you can see? So any perceptions of fewer people in an anecdotal walk through means means all died from this by default?

What prompted my a-hole response WAS the fact you said you didn’t think it was going to be a big deal in the US. If the virus proves to not be that virulent, why the actual frick would you speculate on a mystery decimation that conveniently happens out of sight

Yep. I fully believe in my lifetime we are going to get raped by a pandemic that causes at least a temporary breakdown of Western society as people self quarantine in fear of it.

Don’t think this one is it though.

frank, here's a LINK for your OP.

Its a dashboard that updates with confirmed & suspected cases and where they are. As far as I can tell it is accurate.

Imagine the financial consequences of shutting down all transportation in or out of cities like NY, Chicago, LA or Houston. Besides financial there would be anarchy in the streets in a matter of days.

These are issues that can swing elections one way or another.

Imagine how many people over there live day to day food wise.

This could get ugly. Food riots, etc
