Just because people call out CCP BS numbers and are right doesn’t meant they want people to die.

Well this is quite convenient timing. There biggest concern for the economy was the poor, rapidly aging, male population that was becoming a burden.

Your selective summation of my posts is laughable. Guess you missed the part where I posted that I have dozens of friends living in China... or the fact that I was there just a month ago... And two times earlier last year also.

I’d say I’ve got more ties and vested in China and Asia than most of those who are posting in this thread.

So frick you

Go pray for more people to die

we can clearly see that on the container box, it says “garbage and animal corpses processing modules”. Not only that, on the right bottom of the container box it shows this module was invented by China People’s Liberation Army Academy of Supply Chain, Nanjing China Ship Oasis Environment Protection LLC, Nanjing Bio-sphere research institute and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Hopefully it’s just for medical waste although it is interesting that just last year they built a massive incinerator plant in Wuhan that people were protesting. Why isn’t that sufficient? Unless they want something more mobile to be near the hospitals.

Yes, about 20 questionable links pop up, and none of them give a source. They all just say "reports".

It could be true, and they might even be using them to dispose of human bodies, but all of the links I've found just reek of clickbait. I don't know how anyone reads, much less believes, crap from sites like that.

How can you forget the annual norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships?

I've basically stopped watching televised news the last few years and I just read what interests me on the internet. I've seen the headlines about outbreaks of intestinal virus on cruise ships but obviously didn't read them closely. Now I know, and definitely won't be taking any cruises.

I deal with a handful of factories in several parts of China. FWIW, all that I have communication with are now finally back operational as of yesterday, although not at 100% yet. Some workers are still not able to travel to get back to work. All of my contacts are saying that things are almost back to normal. They may be lying, who knows....but they are giving me target ship dates that are a little earlier than I thought they would.

Just thought I would share.

“Just”

How quickly we forget.

It wasn’t that people were arguing that the Chinese numbers were accurate. It was an argument that there was no reason to believe they were as far off as some people here chose to believe.

Would you like me to go back and start pulling posts where as many as hundreds of thousands of dead were citied even before the disease hit full swing?

Mostly based off of twitter posts of someone talking to their neighbor who has an aunt living in the center of it. And it was given credence and ran with as if it’s fact.

I’m guessing the goalposts for slackster and denial crew will be moved from “let’s see what happens outside of China” to “well its only killing old people outside of China”

This is not looking good

It's killed 11 people outside of China. How would you like us to react?

What, specifically, is not looking good?

My threshold, all else being equal, is excess mortality rates. It will probably be difficult to measure during the outbreak, but it basically captures how many people die that wouldn't have died from something else this year.

For example, periods with a higher (relative to normal) mortality rate because of a heat wave are often followed by periods of lower mortality rates. The net mortality rate is a good measure of how impactful the heat wave truly was.

Sounds like Iran’s healthcare plan for coronavirus is, if you have it you are quarantined in fire

The economic impact of having a flu-like event isn't looking pretty good. Getting a new vaccine, people missing work, old people dying, young people dying, immune compromised dying and on and on.

Progress

quote:

Jason McLellan, a UT associate professor of molecular biosciences, led a team of researchers in creating the first 3D atomic-scale map of the spike protein — the part of the virus that attaches to and infects human cells. McLellan and his colleagues had a leg up on the process, having already spent many years studying SARS and MERS, viruses that are in the same family as the new coronavirus and have caused outbreaks in the past.

quote:

The team plans to use their molecule as a probe to isolate naturally produced antibodies from patients who contracted the new coronavirus and successfully recovered. In large enough quantities, the antibodies could help treat a coronavirus infection soon after exposure, UT said.
