I got in the car and heard that. He can’t be serious of doing this until August. This could explain JBE hasn’t mentioned anything about opening stuff up.

You know, I just want to say that I find it funny how quickly people on this board have gone from “we can’t open anything up” to “we need to open things back up again to avoid economic collapse”.

Were you of the opinion that as data and trends shifted that public opinion would not shift a discussion from a need to be mindful and apprehensive to more cautiously optimistic and focused on the future?

Most people's vision lowers to the immediacy of the present during a crisis, naturally moving back towards the horizon of the future as the situation dictates.

Your projection over those around you is as humorous as it is rife with insecurity and a need to do just that...project.

Who wouldn't expect sentiment to shift? Evidently you. Congrats baw.

I dont really take it as fear, at least mine isn't.

I just dont see the benefit in keeping things shut down much longer. we cant keep it shut down for a complete containment measure because that would require like 6 months of this shite, so there isnt much difference in opening up april 30th or may 7th or may 18th or whatever.

we can identify who has it now so we know who to tell to stay home and people will hopefully wash their hands before touching their face.

Testing needs to shift more from being used by doctors to treat patients on top of still following certain restrictions on who to have it to public policy of limiting new spread, catching it earlier, and making sure under tested areas with low positives arent just due to testing those at point they need to be hospitalized. Not a complete shift but a better balance.

Doctors wanting to help patients is noble and is what they see in front of them, but it has to be balanced with a public policy for nation. I think many are stuck on first 2 weeks of March when they couldn't test many ICU patients due to them not meeting restrictions in place for testing.

I haven't checked last few days, but NJ almost seemed like it was running above 50% each day for a week. Either half the state is screwed or they have got down their testing process on who to test down to point of having greater than 50% of being correct without even testing. Not sure but I would guess doctors treating patients usage also includes multiple tests to be considered recovered (tracker site has had issues with some reporting specimens tests versus # of individuals tested when reporting test quantity results) As a public policy to stop spread and/or verify under tested areas I would think at this point regardless of new tests that can increase numbers testing has to shift some to focus more on spread across country and finding out what we don't know yet. That was a debate task force had when deciding where to push roll out of the Abbott Labs tests. I think initially hotspots won over the under tested areas, but these cities also pushed from their end a lot as well including some like Detroit using identity politics.

Sucks to be y'all. As I type this I expect the Alabama governor to say something almost as stupid. Nah, that is pretty high bar right there.

Ehhh we're getting a little liberal saying that the doctor was calling for 120 more days of staying at home.

I think they main takeaway from him and JBE with respect to staying at home is the fear that large parts of the population are going to say frick it and have big easter get togethers.
