I think they main takeaway from him and JBE with respect to staying at home is the fear that large parts of the population are going to say frick it and have big easter get togethers.
So, the 120 days was just a threat?

He said "The next 120 days are so important" Nothing about staying at home for 120 days, or that we should extend the stay at home order for another 120 days or anything like that.

He said we need to maintain the stay at home order for THIS easter so that there can be a great easter next year.

They hit on easter a lot in the presser. I imagine the state authorities have a (reasonable) fear that many Louisianians will say frick it and have their normal easter get together with friends and family.

There was no mention of extending the order to 120 more days despite the histrionics from some in this thread.

Paraphrasing

"We need to continue to shelter in home. That wont be lifted this easter because then next easter would be bad. We NEED TO CONTINUE WHAT WE ARE DOING THESE NEXT 120 DAYS"

That was after he said white people are responsible for black people being sick

I’ll pass.

I think JBE is an idiot and I’m currently cooking a brisket with the wife.

This was what I heard. Considering JBE has avoided any discussion of lifting the stay at home at all costs this could be why.

I didn't take from that at all.

He said "As we get our own control over the next 120 days, make sure you do the things you need to do to in your household to protect your pod"

I take that as saying "As the restrictions get lifted and relaxed going forward, we still need to take measures to protect ourselves and our families. Washing hands, maintaining physical distance, etc."

I completely disagree that this guy is saying "WE MUST NOT LEAVE OUR HOUSES FOR 120 MORE DAYS OR ELSE"

The only issue I have is, why won’t he just say that they plan on lifting restrictions?

He got the 120 days from somewhere. No one at any of these press conferences have made a peep about lifting restrictions.

Thanks brother and I hate that about your mom. I know my parents smoked when I was a child and I hated it. I would go to school smelling like smoke and have to ride in the backseat and have smoke in my face every time we went anywhere. Forget about watching television in the living room with them. It's one reason I didn't subject my kids to it because I remember how I felt as a kid. It's tough. I had a much easier time getting clean than I did with tobacco.

You’re doing well. You sound like a good dad. My dad smoked, too, until I asked him to quit when I was 5 or 6. After they got divorced, I always remembered who quit and who didn’t. As I got older and developed a better understanding of addiction, I didn’t blame her as much, but I still remembered and I guess I always will. Hopefully, this whole ordeal will help to set you free. Prayers for you as you try to get your wife on board. I know it’s difficult, but together, I bet you can both do it.

extending this another 120 days would be grounds for impeachment

I do get the thinking behind this. If tomorrow he said we're going to start opening things back up soon a lot of folks would take that as an all clear immediately. As it is, I'm seeing a lot more traffic on the road and in the stores. People are done with this shite.

I get not setting dates or talking about it a ton for those reasons. But you can’t ignore that aspect of this crisis. People need some light no matter who small at the end of the tunnel rather than just being told keep doing what you are doing.
