Something as simple as show me your ID? I would show him my driver’s license. I say this only because letting them know who I am does not bother me. And, I could read the officer’s approach right there.

Doesn't there have to be a reason to ask for ID? Like if he is suspected of doing something? Sitting there by himself on a bench doesn't constitute IDing him, so this cop was clearly overreaching. It's not like this dude was walking around looking into the windows of the store or something "suspicious." He was sitting on the bench minding his business.
I do wish this dude would've just given his ID so he didn't have to deal with this a-hole cop. But shite like this is why people hate some cops so much.
"He wouldn't fricking ID himself....so yeah, he's fricked."
That's such a bullshite way of looking at it if you're the cop. I didn't watch the whole video, but hopefully the cop received some sort of punishment for this. And I don't know why after the Lyft driver showed up, the cop couldn't put 2 and 2 together and let him go. But I guess he had to make sure this dude "learned the hard way." What an a-hole.

To say you’ve seen police do some incredibly braves things is fair. However, I will interject with IT’S THEIR frickING JOB to do so. It’s not their job to bully people because they didn’t have a girlfriend or have sex before the age of 35. All you have to do is look at the smirk on this little pricks face when he’s being sworn in. He needs his arse kicked

To be fair we always hear this only happens to black people. Thinking any other way makes you a racist.
If you were to say, Paul's life matters, you would be a white supremacist.

Yeah I'll never understand why some around here recoil at the thought of government agents being held accountable for their unlawful behavior.
You an anti union guy?

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking of the portion below as that which required you to produce an ID. That is not the case, and I appreciate you clearing that up.
If I'm not breaking the law and just walking around/jogging, why would I even have an ID on me?

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying I view cops kinda like I view people in the military. There are some guys and gals who are absolutely incredible people that have served our country with honor and valor. Isn't that their job? Sure it is, but I still give them props because as a human being, it's special when someone serves selflessly.
There are also people in the military that are nothing short of psychopaths and are absolutely awful human beings and they don't deserve blanket love just because they joined a service branch. I try to judge people based on their character and what they actually do rather than doing an all encompassing label of them.
I think it's shortsighted to call anyone who doesn't advocate for the complete banning of police officers bootlickers and I also think it's shortsighted to blindly back the blue.

I will say this, I am much more understanding of an a-hole cop if he/she is going into hostile environments vs some dipshit that goes apeshit on someone because they didn’t signal. At least they have “earned” the right to be jaded. I’d say 90% of the police forces (especially in lower crime areas) have no bigtime interactions with major violence vs just tickets and DWI’s. Those are your typical pricks that go home to a 300lb mate.

That's fair. After working as a teacher/coach in some impoverished (hood) areas during my career, there is no amount of money you could pay me to be a cop that worked those neighborhoods.

How does the cop knowing your name clear you of a "we got a call of suspicious activity" situation? If you are not doing anything wrong they don't need to run you through the system.

There are a bunch of "auditors" and cop haters on this thread. They all will be the ones crying first when they are a victim of a crime.
My cousin was head of internal affairs for about 40 years. Cops absolutely feared him because he made it his business to drive piece of shite cops like this out of the force. frick you and frick this dog shite human with a badge.

I know poluce go on a power trip if you don't give them ID. I know my rights but it's easier to give in.

Maybe bc I grew up in the late 80s early 90s, I was so used to showing my ID at every bar, club, buying alcohol, etc.. I would have just shown the cop my ID without a 2nd thought.

The cop should be in jail.

I am pro-police but it appears this cop is bad at his job...

Cop is an a-hole.
But I don't like people who wear hoodies like that.
