If you can find a job in either and aren’t tied to working in a chemical plant...

Mississippi is hands down better. Houses cheaper, roads better, cost of living cheaper. Schools and everything else is a wash.

Gary Indiana is the only city I can think of that’s worse than Jackson

It depends on what you're going by, if it's violent crime, Jackson is the worst in the nation, if it's poverty it's way down there, education is also among the worst anywhere. Infrastructure is also probably the worst in the country

If you are going by food and tourist attractions, it's no where near the bottom, since Jackson has several nice museums and great restaurants, architecture, medical and still has plenty of upscale neighborhoods.

The surrounding area has most of the metro population and most of the income, tax revenue, and schools are decent to excellent.

We have a governor that believes in science and doesn’t literally want people to die of the most deadly pandemic in human history

Louisiana has a 50% higher population and a 50% higher death rate from Covid. Mississippi statistically has the same death rate as Louisiana on a % of the population basis, but they are completely open.

Where is the science? It supports two completely different ideas on how to manage the pandemic coming up with the exact result. The only difference is they are all going on about their business while NOLA has decimated it’s tourism industry.

Can’t do it. Left BR in 2002 and moved to Madison. No regerts.

Schools, job, taxes, ambiance, decor and quality of life all better where I am.

I did like the food, fishing and people in BR though.

It depends on what part of Mississippi you’re talking about. I obviously wouldn’t live in the delta over the north shore. If we’re doing a generalization comparison I still say Mississippi wins.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast particularly Ocean Springs and BSL are absolutely on fire since COVID hit. Affluent people have been buying up houses non-stop and its damn near impossible to find upper end homes because they have been selling lot hot cakes.

Ocean Springs also boasts the some of the top tier public schools in the entire south.
