Contact lenses for astigmatism

Anyone that has astigmatism wear contacts? Are they effective? I had some in high school (30s now) and they felt thick and I couldn’t see out of them as well as glasses. I’m sure technology has improved.
I’d prefer contacts but if they are still subpar I’ll continue with glasses.
Thoughts?

I have astigmatism in my left eye. Cannot stand wearing contact lenses. Very uncomfortable as they don’t always fit completely flush with the eye and it screws up my depth perception.

I wear optic air’s for astigmatism. Have been wearing for years. Expensive but great.

Yes I wear them and have an astigmatism in my left eye. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for the contact to get in the position for it to clear up after putting them in.

I have to use a toric style soft lense due to my astigmatism. No issues with them. I mush prefer contacts to glasses. Mine are 3mo use lenses.

Yep. Been wearing the same ones for 20 years. I'll never go back to glasses if I can avoid it.

I have an astigmatism and have worn contacts for the last 13-14 years or so.
I went to some Biofinity Toric lenses my doctor recommended 2-3 years ago and really like them.
I couldn't wear glasses every day.

I have astigmatism in both eyes. Two different prescriptions. I tried contacts, and absolutely hated wearing them. It made my eyes burn, similar to the feeling of air being blown directly into my eyes.
Luckily, I can function without glasses most of the time, except when doing computer work. I can still function, but after a while, I get a headache.

I’d need lenses for astigmatism that are also progressives as well. Seems a bit of a tall order, and I hate the thought of shite in my eye. I’ll stick with glasses

I have recently started using them after using regular contacts for years. It has taken some getting used to.

Gas permeable contacts helped my eyes not get worse
My brother still wears them, they didn’t help his vision from getting worse

Wear them every single day of my life and no issues. I will say 5-10 years ago they quality of the lenses were much better than they are today. I use to get a years worth and push them to 2-3 years of use, but now a years worth lasts a year, maybe a few extra months.

I have them and YES there's a difference. My doctor told me though I will ALWAYS see better with my glasses. I remember being in college and saying "nah it's just not right". The doc flipped some something (to adjust for the astigmatism) and I was like "OH I CAN SEE"!

I have astigmatism in both eyes and have worn toric soft contact lenses for 20+ years. No issues. I hate wearing glasses.

This is the biggest reason I can't wear a corrective lens for the astigmatism I have in my right eye. The corrective lens makes it feel like something is stuck in my eye. So in my right eye I wear a regular lens, which I can do because I don't have a really bad astigmatism. My glasses do correct for the astigmatism, so I can actually see better with my glasses.

I use daily contacts. It took a while to get used to them but now I can wear them for a week before feeling them. I usually remember to change them daily, though.

They are much better than they used to be. Very comfortable I don't notice them. The only problem I have with contacts is the need to wear reading glasses since there are no progressive lenses.
