Always hard to get a job out of the ground with rain everyday (sometime 2x a day).
yep
the summer drought of a couple years ago was the best construction weather I’ve ever had in 25 years of doing it. And if the dirt isn’t right, especially on a massive civil scale like bucees you can’t keep going

I’m currently managing 3 industrial jobs from Houston to Mobile, and have had constant rain and lightning delays weekly since around early May. It stops production but it also wrecks the working surface conditions and doubles down on unproductive time. I like rain but not when I’m looking at work schedules

Yep. Had a really great year and I remember a job in east Texas that didn’t have measurable rain for something like 2 months in summer 23.

Supposedly they were going to build where Aldi's and Racetrac are about 5 or 6 years but pulled out due the flood mitigation cost.

I also think they might be getting gold feet with doing business with all the incompetent good Ole baws in charge here. It's a pain in the butt to wait months for months for expensive permits and also have to deal with all the small town boss hawg police departments around here as well.

We built a house starting in the summer of 21. It rained everyday for 3.5 months. 1-2 weeks of dirt work took 4 months. Can't properly compact wet dirt unfortunately

Maybe it will be a Grand Isle beach theme.

Will it include washed up, rotting carcasses and other dead sea life?

Why not? I think it’s better and more vibrant to be a “sore thumb” in presentation. Southern country settings do well in other parts of the country. And beach tones/themes are normally calming and have great vibes.

Because it's dumb. Louisiana has shitty beaches. REALLY shitty beaches. You can't pull off that ruse, even on Aggies headed east.

Not them but Breaux Bridge, Henderson, Carencro, Scott, etc.

I work in commercial real estate and used to work in Louisiana. You would be surprised how many businesses pull out of Louisiana because of these small town speedtraps, many of which just outright lie.

Edit: LOL at the down votes, guess the truth hurts sometimes. The cope is real with you Louisiana people.

Les Miles has lost control of the Bucees construction!

Will Wade would have written a check and had this Buc-ee’s finished a year ago.

Yep. The Ruston location was announced in January 2023. They just started on the roads a few months ago, and are maybe going to begin construction this month. Meanwhile the Benton, AR location began construction 2 months ago despite being announced a year after Ruston.

This is the first Buc-ee's failure. And it happened in Louisiana.

There's some other shite going on there. Could be fricked up civil plans or could be incompetent contractor. Sounds like finger pointing has started and could be litigious soon.

Do they really need 120 pumps in that area??

I have yet to see a slow day at a Buc-ee’s. Tons of people will make a pit stop there before undoubtably having to crawl thru BR traffic.

Speaking of Buc-ees' design I was looking at the plans for one a while back (may have been the Laffy location) and noticed the plans called for license plate readers at all the entrances and exits. I thought this was intersting. They may be more common than I thought when entering private property and I just haven't noticed them.
