re: Concerning the Menace that is Illegal Deer Sausage

I’ve got an idiot nephew who shoots whatever he sees because my dad was “old school” and disputed the law. They make me sick with their actions.
Also, fricking deer processed correctly is barely discernible from other meat so I also find the obsession with wild venison to be ridiculous

Probably because if it was legal, you’d have people shooting every deer they saw so they could sell the meat which would lead to more poaching and over hunting. Deer were almost hunted to extinction 50-60 years ago. Rednecks trying to make money selling venison would put them back on the endangered list
Then how about they enforce the poaching laws that already exist?

Kinda like trump is trying to enforce immigration laws.
That is a law that should be enforced because of the drugs, guns and criminals crossing the border.

I guess if you only post a snippet from the article that fits your perspective then it doesn’t make sense.
Actually reading the article reveals all sorts of shenanigans the guy was involved in. Not to mention MS’s deer population is infected with CWD and it’s illegal to transport MS deer to help slow the spread of the diseases. Which is where he says he got his deer from.
Stop being so narrow minded and think big picture.

Ok...this part just means that you can’t taste for shite.
You should just eat Vienna sausage since it all tastes the same

So, what, are you mad at wildlife and fisheries for not trying to get crack and meth off the street? Uh i dont think your average wildlife agent would be very good at doing street buys.

I need some if anyone has some they want to sell. Delicious.

I hadn't had backstrap in years, so I ordered it a couple of weeks ago at Brennan's. The taste and texture were markedly different from anything else. Even my SO was able to easily tell it apart from steak.
ETA: Now, if you're arguing wild versus raised, then I'll defer to people who would know better than I would.

Exactly. I wouldn’t mind buying some elk from someone

The guy's problem was he sold the sausage. He should have given the guy the venison but charged him for gas to deliver it.

It is illegal to sell wild game meat.
As it should be and I'm glad the LEO was doing his job. Not sure what OP is bitching about.

It’s so arbitrary. You can’t sell deer but you can sell fur bearing animals. Why? Because the government says so.

You really shouldn’t be critical about shite you have no knowledge in.

I wonder what he was going to do with the raccoon meat the authorities found at his house.

Do you not have taste buds? Give me a steak every day over any part of a deer. I give away every deer I kill either to friends or hunters for the hungry

What is the point of going after real criminals (like methed out meth heads, theives, murders, gangs, etc) when you can just bust the potheads and the rednecks who are selling deer sausage.
You do understand that the people going after murderers and gangs aren’t the same people after those selling game meat right?

It’s supposed to help cut down on poaching. If there were a market for it, more people would try to meet the demand for the $
Years ago they busted a ring selling white perch out of the Larto area to restaurants in Chicago. They were sending down refrigerated trucks to pick it up, that was the scale of it.
You guys bitch about outlaw hunters trespassing on your lease, then you bitch about it when they get busted. I guarantee somebody like this wasn't observing any of the other regulations, either.

Public health concern. It's easier to nip this in the bud

Lots of people on this thread arguing that this law shouldn’t be enforced. I’m simply wondering how many of those same people would make a “blah blah blah, stop breaking the law, a-hole” argument on a thread about drug users being incarcerated
Lots of people that don't hunt. Their opinions have been mostly useless throughout this thread starting with the OP.
