it hasn't been inspected. Could be full of disease.

true but, then if you get sick, it's on you. Buy sausage from some random guy on the street and get sick, then what??

I know all kinds of people that process wild game.
Processing it is different than selling the meat.
It is now illegal because market hunting led to the extinction of some animals such as the passenger pigeon, and the near extinction of others such as deer, turkey, and buffalo.

That makes a lot more sense than protecting us from the sausage makers that don't wash their hands after defecating.

As opposed to getting sick on lettuce from the grocery?

This would lead back to the days of market hunting. Just about wiped out deer and ducks in the 1950's. And yes, my Dad did market hunting for ducks back in the day.

I can assure you nobody misses a fricking pigeon.
ETA: this is tongue in cheek.
But if something like sewer rats were wiped out would anyone really miss them?

What if you shoot a deer, take it a processor then someone else pays for it and picks it up ?
We do this all the time with does

Wildlife and fisheries agents are in charge of making sure that laws surrounding hunting and fishing are enforced, not going after drug dealers, robbers and murderers. Why is it wrong that they are doing their jobs?

I'm glad we've gotten all of the crack and meth off the streets and an concentrate on serious things like deer sausage.
Wildlife and fisheries agents don't generally investigate and arrest illegal drug dealers.

but, at least you have a course for retribution.
honestly, i don't care if the guy makes and sells his own sausage or not.
was just answering the question as to why it would be illegal.
I worked for years in a meat market and we could not process wild game on the same equipment that we processed inspected meat on.

Deee sausage is a gateway sausage and hardly a laughing matter.
As soon as you lose someone to the illegal
sausage trade, you’ll understand.
Some people are all about that life.

What bugs me is the Wildlife & Fisheries own these deer, birds and whatever animals on your land.
That’s a reach to me.

Looks like buffalo skulls.

Fishfighter is right about the “ market hunting” aspect. Look at the species that have been wiped out. Bison, passenger pigeons, alligators almost, some of the coastal birds for plumage, etc. I had a great uncle that got busted with about 500 grosbec in the Mansura Cold Storage a long time ago.

Well, all I see here are some people that don't hunt and have no knowledge of our pass as far as why we have WL&F's and what they do here in the state. If it wasn't created, we wouldn't have any wild game anymore. That is their job to up hold the laws that protect wild game, Not hunt down drug dealers. But yet, they do at times.
They are one of a few departments that do not rely on tax dollars from the general fund. Their moneys come from the sale of lic and taxes off sporting goods.

Then the USDA isn't responsible, you are.
Along similar lines, we think nothing of attending dinner parties where everyone just brings their own dish. You have no clue how sanitary someone's kitchen is. But such parties are completely legal.
