Any way to stop the blistering process before it gets started? And yes I know it's a form of herpes...lol but considering 80% of the U.S. population and probably an even higher % of the OT board has the Type I version of the virus I thought I'd ask :)

Take large doses of lysine as soon as you feel it coming on.

Old wives tale that actually works:

Scrape away the top layer, and then rub some coconut oil on it. Do that when you feel it getting dry. The oil will keep the new growth moist once you scrape the top, dead layer off

Ask your dentist for a prescription. Pills and a topical cream. Works wonders. Far better than the OTC garbage.

Stop giving oral pleasure to hookers. In the meantime, get a pocket knife and cut it off.

Little do these assholes in this thread know cold sores are caused by Herpes simplex virus 1. Just about EVERY person has this type of Herpes. Some people just don't have outbreaks. You can keep Abreva close by and when you start to feel the tingling and bump you apply it. It is GREAT for cold sores
