Starting taking acyclovir last night and I'm rubbing some prescription topical cream on it as well but it's early and hard to tell if it's going to stop it from blistering or not. Never had any luck stopping one from blistering once it's flared up. Sucks because I'm meeting a chick for a 4th date tonight. The sore doesn't look bad yet but it's to the point you can tell it's a cold sore if you look close enough.

Zovirax is the best prescription available but is very expensive. Try ordering online out of U.S.
Also, good advice to take lots of L-lysine vitamins as well...like 2 tablets 4 times a day.

Ask your dentist for a prescription. Pills and a topical cream. Works wonders. Far better than the OTC garbage.

This is correct. When a cold sore is coming on there is a phenomena called a "prodrome" a premonition that a cold sore is coming. The virus travels on nerve pathways so there is actually science behind it. You can take Valtrex pills or use Zovirax Ointment as a topical or both. They are antivirals and will reduce the length of the cold sore and if started early enough may prevent it altogether. Don't bother with OTC products if you really want an effective treatment.

1. next time at doc ask for prescription of aclyovir.
2. keeep with at all times.
3. take it within 2-3 hours of first signs and it will not come up.

use to have them all the time. this will work 100% if taken asap.

Witch Hazel. If you feel one coming put it on and ir'll never blister up. If it has already blistered this will get rid of it very quick. Put it in a q-tip and rub the sore three or so times a day. This works better than Abreeva or any store bought fever blister medicine.

Get your Dr to write a Rx for Valtrex
As soon as you feel the tingle before one pops out take about 4 pills, later in the day take 2 more
If it has already started to blister out still take 4 immediately & it helps to shorten the time it’s there
This works for me every time

Scrape away the top layer, and then rub some coconut oil on it. Do that when you feel it getting dry. The oil will keep the new growth moist once you scrape the top, dead layer off

Rotate between apple cider vinegar and coconut oil.

At first tingle, apply ACV with a q-tip. Then a few hours later apply coconut oil. Rinse and repeat.

The ACV dries it out and kills it. The coconut oil moisturizes and kills it. Both are antiviral.

Everybody is hitting around but not giving full info.

the meaning of this is the real rub. How far along are we talking.

Very early tingling/funny feeling: Heavy Lysine can/will lessen it. Heavy Lysine will also cause diarrhea.

Half way to full blister: Witch Hazel or Rubbing alcohol every 2-5 minutes can shorten. Obviously difficult to achieve if at work or school. Alcohol seems to work better for me.

Precautions: undiluted bleach, fingernail polish remover, etc can and will cause equally bad burn/blister as fever blister itself.

Anti-viral prescription medicines are great but must be taken prior to or very early in development.

Apply rubbing alcohol the first day all day long. That’ll dry it out and won’t get any bigger then it is. Then a prescription pill. It’ll be there but u won’t see it. Will Take a week to go away.
Still no kissing etc.

When you feel the tingle rub the cold sore with an ice cube until the ice cube is completely melted.
Cold inactives the virus.

If you get them, wear chap-stick daily with a healthy dose of sunscreen. But if you get one, dab vanilla extract on a q-tip, hold it to the area for a minute, repeat 3-4 times a day. I had as good of luck with that as I did over the counter stuff when I used to get them.

Yes. Get it treated with a diode laser as soon as you start feeling the tingle. If you're early enough you can stop it from erupting.

Last time I felt one coming on I took a qtip, soaked it in rubbing alcohol and applied it to the sore area every 30 minutes literally all day. It ended up not turning into a blister and went away. Not sure if it worked Or not but.. i guess it did.

Be careful breathing after while applying.. after 8 hours I was going in and out of being buzzed lol

when you first notice it, ice it down as often as you can the first few days. This will minimize the ugly sore. Lysine, Abreva, Zovirax all help to some extent.
