For the record, I am retired as of July 1. No dress code. The downvotes are crazy! LOL!

Last time I had a tie on. Meeting with Engineers at Hydro Quebec. Last of the tie holdouts. Senior Engineer slides a pair of scissors down the table …”You drove this crusade, now remove your tie or we hold you down and cut it off.” These were Engineers, not surgeons…..didn’t trust them with anything sharp in their hands,
Tie came off and both coat and tie stayed home afterwards.

Most high finance and/or corporate law firms expect it.
No, not at all. On the finance side, maybe only in investment banking. On the law firm side, not unless you’re a litigator, and then only on court days. Business casual has been dominant in biglaw for 15-20 years now.

Wore a suit and tie, even 3 piece back in the day, for 20+ years of my 43 years of work. I was so happy when the dress code was relaxed. I will say that a properly fitted suit on a fit body is a great look.

Depends if I have any video meetings or not. On meeting days, usually comfortable shorts, bare feet, and a nice collar shirt. If no meetings that day, I roll out of bed, put my contacts in, and stroll to my computer in a wrinkly t shirt and shorts.

Business casual. I used to visit offices in the UK for a company I worked for at the time, and they all wore coat and ties. I think it has gone away too since COVID.

I worked for a regional comsumwr finance company 5-6 years back… wanted us to wear a coat or tie… said that’s what “banks do”
These people were stuck in 1995

Wear a jacket every day. Funny how much sh— I take from dudes who go to work dressed to play the front 9 at City Park.
Probably because they're going to go play as soon as they get off work, and you're not.

Maybe if I have a meeting with a client, but that is very rare. They try to keep me away from the clients if they can.

I retired last September after 43 years in IT.
In my last job, I had on-line meetings with our CIO almost every day.
He always looked like he had just either woken up or had just finished a round of golf.

In my younger days I wore a suit and tie to the office every work day.
Now, if I do not have court appearance, a deposition, or a client meeting, I’m casual. Today I am in shorts and a golf shirt.
Over the past few years I have noticed that in depositions some lawyers attend without a coat and tie. This is true in Zoom mediations, also. I consider depositions and mediations court appearances and always wear a coat and tie (although it may be a blazer rather than a suit).
I go to the office in casual attire whenever I can now - but keep a dress shirt, bow tie, suit hanging in my office in case I need to make a court appearance or meet clients.

First day back to work after almost 6 weeks off. Compression shorts and over size shirt. I did put on makeup in case my boss wants to say hello on camera. So far I have only talked to IT.

I had one boss that had us wear dress pants and a company shirt.
I was checking cattle on my lunch hour and a cow crapped 10 feet away and I ended up with green speckled kaki pants.

West Coast and tech-oriented firms yes, but East Coast white-shoe firms still have a lot of suit-and-tie culture left.
