As always, a big shoutout to the anti-CNN folk for keeping me abreast of CNN’s content.

I'll help you, but first,
quote:

CNN "pushing" something they have no control of.

No control of? While the media has lost all credibility with the silent majority and is increasingly losing its grip on affecting the narrative (therein is the crux of their problem: "the news" became, "the narrative"), to say they have no control on it is ridiculous. You're stuck on CNN like they are the only MSM outlet with an agenda; they are simply the poster child of what used to be, "the news" but who is now "the agenda-driven narrative." To be objective, Fox NEWS is the big bad Boogeyman for the left. The news is dead, yes, but by no means are the news organizations and journalism dead when it comes to spinning a narrative and catching all the people it can in its web- it still works or they wouldn't be doing it.

quote:

I'm just trying to wade through the minutiae to figure out where people in the hoax crowd stand on Warp Speed.
There's your hidden "gotcha" question that only you yourself are smart enough to see. Let me help you:
quote:

the hoax crowd
Relatively speaking across the landscape of this nation's population I don't think there is a single person who thinks that Covid in and of itself is a hoax; there are hundreds of thousands that have died as a result of it, and millions of people have become collateral damage because of it. Warp Speed is another (attempted) way to combat the very real problem that this virus poses to the people in this country who are most at risk for it, but it's also another (attempted) tool to mitigate the collateral damage, i.e., our economy. Enough collateral damage has been done as it is, via the over-politicization, mass hysteria pandering by agenda-driven people who couldn't care less about the old and feeble and who only care about their narrative web that they're spinning.

The "hoax crowd" are the ones who live in bumshit nowhere Mississippi, Iowa, etc. who have a hard time believing New York City would shut down if this virus were not affecting it...? The answer to that is unequivocally, "No. They would not." so why should we? The virus won't get as bad here as in NYC, etc. because we don't have the same "people per square foot" factor, so why should I lose my business when over populated places are being subjected to the laws of nature?

You ever heard of a "browse line" created by deer feeding on browse (e.g., twigs, leaves, woody stems)? It is as critical to the diet of most cervines as H2O for survival, and a browse line is visual proof of overpopulation: There are too many mouths to feed in a particular area and so deer go higher and higher to reach browse until they can't go any higher. When you see a browse line you can be certain that your herd is nearing an inevitable correction: Due to the lack of nutritional needs disease, starvation, weakness leading to predation, poor fawning seasons, etc., a correction takes place and depopulation is usually the desired end result. While we may be the apex species of this planet, we are not immune to the same system of checks and balances: The Coronavirus will kill until the population susceptible to it either dies out, it mutates, or we go apex species on its arse and kill it. Those are our options, but here's the problem: The human herd in my area is still well balanced. Why should we suffer because the herd in New York, etc. are living up under one another becoming literal sitting ducks for a correction?

That, is the hoax that "the crowd" you are, apparently, so perplexed by is talking about: Why is the shoe of another herd being forced to fit on our feet too? Furthermore, the singular example above is also an explanation to your confusion on Warp Speed: We are the apex species trying to find a way to circumvent nature making corrections in places that have never and will never escape nature's attempts at doing so. That's it- that's Warp Speed; it's our attempt to combat a very real problem with our own herd, but we lose sight of the reality that it's a mere band-aid. I've no problem with humans propagating ourselves into extinction, I intend on having quite a few more youngins myself, therefore I'm not saying what the freaks who want to stop breeding are saying, I'm only explaining to you what Warp Speed is since you're confused on it all: It's our attempted band-aid to circumvent this very real, very localized correction that is taking place. We care enough byway of $10 billion via Warp Speed, etc., but not nearly enough to where we are willing (nor able) to wreck the whole kit and kaboodle.

That said, regardless of your views on the human population, corrections in overpopulated areas won't stop until nature or man succeeds, regardless of the economy, and if this trifling virus is any indication of what kind of shape our "apex" species is in to ward off attacks, then one day nature will make the correction despite Uncle Sam's money.

And finally, the "hoax crowd" that you're so dumbfounded by has good reason to give the middle finger to the powers that be who want to shut down our herds and our economies on a "one size fits all" basis when "powerful" public health experts release letters supporting protests and riots and mass gatherings...if they're the right kind:
quote:

The letter, spurred by infectious-disease specialists at the University of Washington, was signed by doctors and medical professionals from top universities such as Columbia, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago and the University of Michigan, as well as community activists.

“However, as public health advocates, we do not condemn these gatherings as risky for COVID-19 transmission,”...“We support them as vital to the national public health and to the threatened health specifically of Black people in the United States.”

They applied a different standard to those such as the “heavily armed and predominantly white protesters” who descended last month on the state capitol in Lansing, Michigan, to demonstrate against the stay-at-home orders.

“This should not be confused with a permissive stance on all gatherings, particularly protests against stay-home orders,” the letter said. “Those actions not only oppose public health interventions, but are also rooted in white nationalism and run contrary to respect for Black lives.”

...“Protests against systemic racism, which fosters the disproportionate burden of COVID-19 on Black communities and also perpetuates police violence, must be supported.”

Fact: Thousands can gather and protest as long as it's about the right thing, but I can't grill out with 11 friends. Oh, and I'll need to shut down my business, but it's fine for thousands of gatherers to burn the son of a bitch down to the ground.

You don't see the problem with that? How things like Warp Speed can be simultaneous with a refusal to flush the country's economy down the drain and how the mitigation measures like the former go hand in hand with the latter? Is it so hard for you to see how people like myself can read the letter partially quoted above by taxpayer funded public health "experts" but then look around us for the chaos and dead bodies and call bullshite? How we can't come up with anything worth sending our great grandchildren into debt over, let alone destroying our livelihoods over?

If you're incapable of connecting the facts with empathy, if you can't see through the bullshite and how measures like Warp Speed (and others) can "be" while not being okay with big government getting bigger and the people and our bank accounts getting weaker because of a farce of a virus, then all I know to tell ya is to head on down to the slaughter house with the rest of the sheeple; you wouldn't survive long out here in the wild anyways.

Yeaaah...no. I don't really "do" the OT charade and have usernames memorized because I don't live here-too busy with actual life. I think you just got your little pussy hurt because his groupthink aligns with yours and dissenting opinion is grounds for cancellation of said person- frick debating the dissent, let's cancel the dissenter himself. Weak little boys in men's size clothing...sad.

According to him, he wanted to "understand" a very complex subject. You, like him, must understand that Twitter length replies not only can't be used to explain the actual reality going on around you, but also that your insistence of illiteracy is one of the many things bringing that actual reality down to the ground around you.

(Queue the "It's Fine" gif with the dog's house burning down around him.)

Furthermore, there are still many people who are college educated but who can still put together coherent paragraphs quite easily.

Like you, he can't handle truth and dissenting opinions. Literacy and freethinking is a foreign concept for people like you and him. I feel sorry for you, kind of, but only because you're such sad, weak little sacks and you don't know it.

To dolts like yourself, dissenting opinion is the offense of all offenses, and dissent is offensiveness, and offensiveness itself is the only atrocity in your sad little world; until the real world eventually swallows you up.

Groupthink is chickenshit carried out by chickenshit men, and groupthink is the human equivalent of following the others onto the loading trailer headed for slaughter. You're not being revolutionists, you're following what pop culture tells you to do- you and the others like you- right over the edge of the cliff. But don't worry! You won't notice your impending doom because you'll be too busy living in the screen that's in front of you to realize the greener pastures are back behind you. Good luck.

Well we can tell this is a lie based on Salmon's joke about Sao setting you off like it did. He insulted a poster you yourself insulted. You obviously recognize his username and have an issue with him outside of his post, or his engagement in this thread, which on a line is probably closer to your views on COVID than it is to Sao's.

eta:
Or you completely misinterpreted his post, in which case you just come off stupid and a bit unhinged.

So sensitive. Your reading comprehension is lacking again also. I was mocking the fact that you try to pass yourself off as an expert on here and hadn't even bothered to look at any models before making those statements.

It was more not arguing every little point by everyone. Especially not a “some study I read said this...” type statement with no link.

So in hindsight the fact that my assessment was correct is completely irrelevant to you huh.

Especially given that the whole reason why you had something to “mock” is that I’m upfront in explaining reasoning when I’m not sure. I had simply said nothing undercutting myself you would have had nothing. And that is passing like an expert?

Abbott isn’t going to shutdown. Anyone pitching a second shutdown has an economic understanding of a toddler. You think a lot of businesses closed the first time? Try a second shutdown. Lots of places would throw in the towel immediately. And for what? This virus is far less deadly than we were told in March and April.

Some small companies won't ever come back from the first shut down. A lot more won't ever come back if there is a 2nd shut down.

That's exactly what the globalists want.

So, November election talk is all a non-issue. Also, keep in mind a total mail in election has been pretty much killed and a non-issue as well.

Even if there is a shutdown, who stands to gain more at that point anyway? There are so many factors that would actually give the Right the edge in my way of thinking. In fact, with the Blue Big city demographic, a shutdown would ensure a Trump landslide.

They need to get Joe out in the open and in debates.

Yeah he's a little off his rocker.

Someone help me with a little information so that I don't have to read back through the whole thread.

My snowflake cousin is telling everyone that cases are spiking like crazy in the central area of the state and he's been asking people to quit going to restaurants again for a while.
Isn't part of the spike recently due to a bunch of new test being done as well as a big dump on a day or two of old positives?

It’s getting pretty bad in Texas, particularly DFW.

And that’s measuring by hospitalizations rather than cases. Available ICU beds have been cut in half.

The screwy graph makes it look like is cut in half, but ICU beds availability is just over 1600 and considering hospitalization is around 2300 the number of ICU beds available back on May 3rd on graph is at a lower point and would have been at least a little lower. Since Texas rewrites some data and not tracking myself I am not sure what numbers were used for ICU availability at beginning of May, but based on current availability In order to be cut in half today from any point in time on that graph the blue line would need to have been above the 3000 line at least once.

While Harris and Dallas counties have gotten worse even some of the its the end of the world with the China solution studies seem less concerned with ICU availability statewide in Texas at least for now.
