Working on some Alabama data center shite this morning, I think I got it just fine.

I’ll take things that never happened for $1000, Alex.

You are still posting in this thread after showcasing you have no idea what you are talking about, lol.

Be sure to get them bama bros to pay all the sales tax they are exempt from but you quadrupled down on….

Alabama has a data center exemption as well, but you have to pick up any local education taxes as the exemption does not qualify for that particular part of the sales tax.

It’s almost like you don’t understand that exemptions are narrowly construed and subject to interpretation by taxing authorities.

Special contracts with publicly-redacted rates should not be legal for a utility.

I don’t disagree. Just pointing out that cost sharing is inherent in public utilities.

So glad I’m wasn’t apart of the participation trophy generation and could admit when I’m wrong unlike little young mingo. I implore you to read back through your comments in this thread and the utter stupidity exposed.

Also that’s great for bama (good use of google) if you need some homework look up the exemptions again(actually try and read them) in Louisiana, local education taxes are exempt here to….And No one gives a flying f about your pretend work in bama after reading your nonsense and showing a complete ignorance on the subject

As of now. I’d need to read the exemption again, but as Louisiana is a home rule state, my assumption is that a parish could opt to not to adopt the exemption.

Will that do that, I highly doubt it, but my assumption is it’s possible.

Interesting fact, equipment shipped into Louisiana by common carrier for repair and shipped right back out is not sourced to Louisiana for sales tax, except in east Baton Rouge parish who deviates from the state statutes on that particular provision.

Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama among others are fighting for these things

Georgia has a new nuke plant online that can power all that shite for cheap without affecting consumer prices as a whole. This is why Kemp went to WEF, to solicit his shiny beautiful new clean nuclear power plant. I'm not sure why meta didn't choose GA, but they already do have about a million sq ft of data center here, so maybe they didn't want too many of their eggs in the GA basket.

I don't see any discussion here how they are going to get diverse redundant fiber links way out there, and what fiber exchange it will trench back out to? Probably 100,000 strands. That's not going to be cheap, and will employ lots of people for the install and for the Telco carriers to service the circuits going forward with local CO's staffed and OSP OnCall resources.

The data center explosion is putting a huge spotlight on the lack of power generation and the poor quality of our electric grids. I would like to see our politicians use this as an opportunity to expand and modernize the grid, but I’m afraid this will not happen. Maybe a power plant or two will get built nearby the data centers, but if they are not tied into the rest of the grid or used to supplement current power, then it’s useless.

Don’t worry there’s a state rep whose son owns a fiber company. They will do the selfless thing and figure it out.

It’ll probably be mostly automated, pay no taxes and suck up enough power to run a town.

But other than that it’ll be great.

This, there's almost no one onsite at data centers. Our politicians are probably too inept to know this though.

I would like to see our politicians demand that these tech giants pay for their own damn power plants and the infrastructure needed to power the data centers instead of bending the taxpayer over and outright robbing them to get the shite built.
