One of the most accurate songs ever sang was released in 2003 by George Strait and Alan Jackson, it was called “Murder on Music Row” and was about the downfall of country music. Nashville and the big music producers didn’t care for it and kinda blackballed those two superstars but they didn’t care because they’d already reached superstar status.
So country was close to dead before 2003 and hearing a bunch of the crap music y’all mentioned led those two to record that song about the decay of country music even back then.

Normally I wouldn’t either but I’d be lying if I said learning his politics hasn’t ruined his music for me.

I’m guessing you don’t watch a lot of movies/TV either then considering 98% of actors & actresses are leftist idiots.

Is it ok to like Midland? Because I like Midland. Them and Jon Pardi. I don’t really listen to terrestrial radio anymore though so I don’t know who’s rapping.

Love some Sturgill. Larry Fleet is pretty good too.
Alan Jackson’s new album is great, all about the old country.

THIS - These F$%$ers Ruined Country: In the late 2000s, Akins began writing songs for other artists, primarily with Ben Hayslip and Dallas Davidson, collaboratively known as The Peach Pickers.

Country music is still good you just have to spend more than 30 seconds of your life searching for it. Back in the day folks had to sort through many albums before finding the right one. Nothing but now now now now mofos round here.

Midland is the perfect blend of 80s country and the earlier days of the Eagles. Hell, the inspiration for the name "Midland" stems from Dwight Yoakam's "Fair to Midland." Granted that was one of his later songs, but you get the idea. They rock cowboy hats with full-on Nudie suits while sporting traditional toe snakeskin boots...far far far and away better than the skin tight jeans and Chelsea boots Luke Bryan and Co. wear.

Also, I didn't see anyone mention it, but ol’ Cody Johnson is this generations Chris LeDoux so to speak. Yes, I know Chris has a son, Ned, but he doesn't have the widespread acclaim like his dad did, so I thought CoJo was more analogous. Additionally, King George mentioned on CMT a while ago he was considering getting back in the studio.
