From what I can gather this is in order to force the home schooled kids to learn about it. Never heard of any public schools in Alabama or Mississippi refusing to teach it.

Regardless of your opinion on the subject, anyone who has taken the ACT would find this to be laughably irrelevant to the main premise of mandating the inclusion of these two theories.

Good for Alabama.
I'm speaking more about the climate change stuff. I'm not sure if Texas has a policy on teaching that but most of our esteemed legislators are highly backed by oil & gas and would probably rather skip that lesson.

The Book of Genesis doesn't purport itself to be scientific, some choose to think that it is. Science is science, faith is faith, the two are not mutually exclusive.
