Quit being a dick. Text the man back and tell him you will cut his grass on Wednesday like always.

Why would you not have sent the tracking number when you first get it?

That should be part of your system or way you do busines.

I only continue to work with vendors who provide tracking. I don’t want to be kept wondering where my product is and if it was shipped.

First set expectations that while they may call, e-mail, or text you whenever they like you will only respond during normal business hours and by x time on Monday if it is a weekend.

The last job I had with clients/customers, I had a work phone and a personal phone. The work phone was turned off as soon as I got in truck to head home and wasn’t turned back on until the next morning.

Also you can turn off all notifications during certain time periods. Mine is off from 10pm to 6am except for those on my favorites list.

Wake up at 4 am and text them every morning with useless info on how you appreciate their business. If after 2 weeks that doesn’t work then leave your phone in the truck when you get home.

Either reply to them when the next work day starts or tell them you do not take calls during non-business hours.

ETA: This is why you shouldn’t give clients your personal cell number. Either get a second phone or direct all calls to an office phone.

How would the ot baws deal with such an interuption

Realize that the situation falls into one of two categories:

1). Keep work and personal numbers separate, even if inside same phone. Use Do Not Disturb features to maintain limited connectivity in non working hours.

2). If 1 is not an option, then you are working a job that expects your accessibility at all times. Therefore complaining about an “interruption” that lasts for 10 seconds to just look at it; a minute to resolve is being extremely dramatic. It’s your job. Quit bitching and deal with it.

Also, clean up your resume to get a job where option one is acceptable.

Better a text than a call. The client sent the message when he thought about it so he wouldn't forget, knowing you wouldn't respond until you were ready, without bothering you with a call. What are you bitching about?

This seems pretty straightforward - it clearly depends on the client.

Either way, the text itself wouldn't bother me.

This request could have easily waited until the morning.

For you yes, but maybe he had a reason to know right then.

Go get a job at McDonalds, obvious you don’t need to be in your current position since you are asking this crowd!

1. Get a Google voice number.

2. Turn off notifications after 6pm

3. Live your life

The great thing about texts and emails is that you can send them when you want and also you can reply to them when you want. I don't know why folks get in such an uproar about receiving them at weird hours. My immediate supe sends me crap at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning, I just figure he's taking his morning dump and collecting his thoughts.

Reply to them in the morning/when you normally begin your work hours.

Some people would lose their job. Sorry I was the doctor on call and that guy died. I had my phone off

Sounds like you are in sales. I’ve been in sales for 20 years. 100 percent commission. No one says a peep about anything I do as long as numbers are met. Get haircuts, stay in office all day, running personal errands, taking unlimited vacation time off.

That comes w a trade off. That means you are accessible. It’s just a way of life. If it bothers you it will not get better. Take the good w the bad

You would be wrong to think that.
