South Beach Miami and Key West. French Quarter vibes, sort of.

Savannah

Savannah is like if Charleston and New Orleans had a kid. you get a touch of the southern charm that Charleston has without the pretentiousness, and the party vibe from NOLA with less cultcha (but not a lot less)

I play this game in my head all the time.

If England had a kid with California the kid would look like Australia

If Alabama had a kid with Connecticut the kid would look like Pennsylvania

If New York City had a kid with Baltimore, and Baltimore drank during the pregnancy the kid would look like Philly

Paris.
It smelled of urine worse than the French Quarter walking along the Seine across from Notre Dame years ago when I was there.

Key West
The conch cottage and shotgun style homes definitely look like parts of NO. Duval st. is a PG-13 version of Bourbon.

Mobile - poor man's NOLA

Charleston - rich man's NOLA minus the party scene

This is the correct answer. First time I went to Charleston I said, “Huh, this is what all these houses are supposed to look like.”

went to a wedding in Nola last weekend, stayed in the quarter, I was kind of not looking forward to it because of, you know, but I wasn't letting my wife go there by herself, I was pleasantly surprised at how pleasant the quarter was, didn't notice near the usual level of filth and riff raff

We did a vacation to Savannah when we had young kids, as we hated the idea of a beach on the gulf coast. We were going to do a staycation in NOLA, but we said why not go somewhere that resembles it?

What an awesome low key time we had. We rode our bikes with kiddie trailers everywhere.

Loved the quaintness of the town and the historical tours. My favorite was eating at Pink House.

A couple years later we did Charleston. Fun, but we felt that Savannah was better.

I'd really like you to explain what part of Houston you are talking about. Cuz I've lived here35 years and have never seen any part of Houston that's like New Orleans.

Galveston - don’t see it

Galveston is very much like New Orleans. The Strand looks so similar. It's had a Mardi Gras celebration for over 150 years. Before Texas and it's politicians took over, Galveston was a smaller version of the Port of New Orleans before the Great Storm. It was full of bars, brothels, and questionable behavior and was a pretty lawless place.

Galveston is a shell of it's pre 1900 self.
