Houston is Los Angeles without the scenery or glitz.

Memphis is by far the closest city to New Orleans in every way.
Both old River towns

Duval Street in Key West can have a slight hint of the quarter at times
I lived in NOLA for a while and now I’m in West Palm. Key West definitely reminds me of New Orleans in a tropical setting. Also the rainbow flags.

Mobile is the obvious answer, but I'd also include San Fran. Lots of history and stuff to do, but also a shithole. They even smell the same.

Charleston - rich man's NOLA minus the party scene
I visited Charleston a few years ago, and King Street was quite vibrant.
Obviously not on the level of New Orleans, but Charleston's nightlife and party scene is better than most cities.

Savannah: if only they hadn't surrounded their magnificent historic district with three housing project, one for each of the land sides of the district; the fourth side has shops etc. and the waterfront.
Their air quality is better: lots of spanish moss.
To get tickets for their equivalent o fLe Petite, we had to ring the door bell and someone came to unlock the door. Saftey first, don't you know.
SCAD is a different level of pretentiousness than Tulane.
We looked hard at Savannah and decided it wouldn't have been a step up from NOLA and our home in the Quarter.

how do you not list Charleston?
Because he's a brand new account that's either an alter or some other engagement farmer that posts absurd hot takes.

Santa Fe: like if New Orleans was just the French Quarter, Marigny, and Old Metairie, dry, and squeaky clean.
Baltimore: very similar people
Houston: literally just Baton Rouge on steroids.

Cities outside Louisiana that remind you of New Orleans

It's like NOLA but less people, cleaner and safe.
mobile routinely ranks right up there with the best of them as far as crime goes. I wouldn’t exactly call it a safe city

Key West reminded me a lot of New Orleans, but a safe New Orleans.

The Old City of Cartagena, Colombia
My first thought. Glad you took the time to post pictures of the old city. It’s in sharp contrast to the modern architecture along the coast.
