WTF? What more do you want “we” to do? Holy shite sis, if you don’t feel like you can talk about whatever your problem is I don’t know what to tell you?
We’ve got more programs and people wanting
To help than ever before. If people don’t feel comfortable discussing their issues, that’s a personal problem, not the community.
Some people just can’t be reached.

Late 90’s gothic scene was no joke. There was a couple kids from Mickinnly Middle who made a pact and they ended up commuting suicide as well.

It's definitely a bad cycle between both. There's such a large negative stigma about mental health that makes those that want to reach out unable to.
The ones that become isolated may be hard to fix, but society alienates the ones that know they want help but are afraid to ask because of the stigma behind being labeled a crazy or depressed.

I wish it was as easy for everyone as you think it is.

It was apparently the inroads to the emo culture I guess. Not really my thing but I won't belittle a HS kid taking their own life. Extremely sad.

What she's saying is that in order for people to FEEL comfortable discussing their issues, we need to CONTINUE to help removing the negative stigma associated with mental health issues. Keep encouraging people to talk about things. If one person listens, that's one person who's been helped. There's still not enough programs and people to help...that should tell you how much of an issue there actually is out there.

Knew a guy 2 years younger in h.s. who did that. Hung himself from the same tree his father had several years earlier, younger brother tried to do the same a few years later, mom caught him in time. Fact is that there were no signs this was going on in each's head. All seemed to have the world by the tail.
Not being a smart arse, they should've cut the tree down after the father's suicide.

I’m class of 88 in Iowa we had multiple suicides in a period in the 80s it was a nationwide “fad” for a bit.

Major red oak on the corner lot.
I guess no one thought it would happen again.

Suicide is awful.
I've lost my sister to it and had myself committed for suicidal thoughts.
Sorry for that.

Agreed, but it seems like we're miles away from accomplishing that.

He was by no means “emo.” He was a fairly popular guy but I guess nobody was really close to him. When I say this guy was the nicest person ever, I freaking mean it. He was an incredible person. Just very random.

I can’t imagine what that family is going through. Damn.
I don’t pray, or believe in God, but as a CHS grad I hope the family and school will be able to recover from something so horrible.

Had a guy I went to school with commit suicide on the anniversary of his dad's death who died the same way. This was right after we all graduated so news got around quick.
Suicidal depression is nothing to frick with, anyone who has those thoughts needs to find help immediately

Absolutely awful. A waste.
To anyone thinking about it...look, I’ve been there.
Single dad, wife left, lost a career, lost a brother...all in 6 months. You think the darkness didn’t creep in? It had been riding me like a jockey for a while. Nights I just wanted to take a nosedive from a tower and at least leave some money to those I left behind. Because the that’s all I thought I was.
My kids are what saved me and chase away the darkness still.
Even on the darkest days when all seems lost, and the shadows cloud my mind and whisper lies, “I love you daddy, please don’t leave me.” Echoes again and again.
Because the darkness that feeds into depression is a lie. There are those who will feel
Their soul ripped away at your absence whether you think it or not.
If you’ve ever listened to a parent’s wail upon losing a child, you might understand. If you’ve seen a grown man bawl upon his brother’s tombstone, you might get it. No matter who you are, your parting brings sorrow.
The dark days come, sure as sunset, and endless nights will follow.
But no Matter how dark it gets...dawn will break the darkness. Whatever heartache and heartbreak and hollowness you feel will fade, and you’ll find laughter creeping in eventually.
It isn’t ever over until it’s over, and you have to fight against the dark and twisties that will cloud your thinking.
Life is long. And when love seems lost you’ll find it. When it all seems meaningless you’ll find meaning.
You just can’t give in. The songs are all written about those who hold on against the odds, who survive and fight another day.
So to all who might read this and know the looming doom of that great gobbling darkness...
Soldier on. It’s been worse and it will be better, you can bet on it.

I feel like it's irresponsible to post this without including a name. A lot of folks here know people at CHS. Maybe keep this to yourself until it hits the news.
