Can anyone give me any insight into the Christmas Festival this weekend? My GF has been wanting to go for a few years and my schedule just opened up where I have an opening this weekend. I called around and most hotels are booked but did find an opening at the Hampton (#1 rated hotel in Natchitoches) and the Super 8(#6) both have 2 night minimums. The Hampton is by the interstate which appears to be 5-10 miles from downtown where as the Super 8 looks to be about a mile from downtown. Does the city have cabs and/or Uber? If I cant drink I might as well just go on Saturday morning and stay outside the city. Coming from New Orleans.

Just don't get hammered. It's not that far from downtown. Went on Friday.. Was awesome. I love the lights. Grew up going every year. But fyi it will be crazy this weekend since its parade day.

The Hampton is nice but it is a little bit of a drive from downtown.

You might want to check the bed and breakfasts that are along the river.

I'm surprised you found a room anywhere at this late date.

There will be no cabs or uber.

No Uber. No cabs. Don't stay at that Motel 8. Front Street is like 1/4 mile and thats its.

Go see the lights then drive to Shreveport for the night so you can drink and have a decent time.

Just went today. Arrived about 11 a.m. and parked on Front Street, hit most of the shops to satisfy the spouse, ate a decent meal at Maglieaux's, spent an hour or two at the LA Sports Hall Of Fame Museum across the street (well worth $5 admission), had a beer and dozen oysters at Mother's, grabbed coffees at Canebreak Cafe, and was home by 5:30. Did all we wanted.

That was a nice outing, but I wouldn't go back this Saturday for anything. That will be a crowded shite show. Try to go another weekend or, better yet, weekday. You'll miss the parade, but also the traffic and crowds. The same lights will be there to see.

Sadly the gf loves the shite show. She wants to see events in the river and all the people plus the fireworks. I on the other hand will be ready to kill myself.
