What a stupid comment.

Customers and employees steal. Police aren’t available. The judicial system won’t prosecute.

It’s being played out the same way, from Chicago to San Francisco to Portland.

It unfortunately is not.

It won't matter, they will open these stores and it does not matter how much they lose, how much is stolen from them, how little money they make.

None of that is the point. Those who don't steal and have to pay for groceries will subsidize these stores and they will be announced as rousing successes for the community, despite quietly bleeding massive amounts of money.

And then the next administration will quietly start closing them.

if the Government makes it impossible for you to deal with it legally, no.

You just close the store.

If they hire government employees, shelves will never be restocked

My thougths exactly. Government bread lines are such a sign of success. Wow they really just walked into this one. Maybe they could hire Evita* to hand out $5 bills to the poor at the mayor's mansion as well.

*During Argentina's rapid slide from the 8th most prosperous nation to a socialist disaster under Peron, his wife Evita (that Evita, from the movies) would hand out money to the poors from the president's mansion.

Just imagine how awesome everything would be if government run...

Everyone loves dealing with the DMV, amirite?

I don't know why they would even call this a store. It would basically be a place where people just come to steal goods paid for by taxpayers

Why not fix the real problem that's causing the shortage?

I think that I'm the only one who thinks they would prosecute theft from the government store.

Tax the people that are not ruining stores to pay for stores that will continue to get stolen from.

North Baton Rouge gets benefits like this with their public parks.

These government owned stores will close faster than the Walmart and Whole Foods stores.

They gonna shut down too. These people are gonna ruin that too. These stores will lose millions in dollars due to theft and vandalism. No insurance company will insure them.

This mayor has made it pretty clear what he thinks about "theft" from stores.

He thinks its fine, its just stuff, and the community needs it.

Because they have to suppress black crime stats to keep up their "white supremacy is the biggest threat to America" charade.
