I hope GJL re-focuses on infrastructure and not all these culture wars.

So far he's putting more effort into hating the gays and eliminating Graves from congress than he is in actually improving the state.

Honestly Landry is a joke so far.

When our infrastructure is collapsing and our education system is in shambles.....LGBT bullshite and retribution against Graves seems like backburner issues to me. I need to see real progress in building these bridges, fixing our highways, and positioning us for better education and healthcare outcomes very soon or I'll be voting against him next time.

He's had some chatter about universal school choice, but I don't think that's solid yet. I hear nothing at all about transportation infrastructure from him. I don't think it's a priority. In fact screwing Lake Charles and Baton Rouge might be a priority for him.

They have two large buildings in downtown Houston right now (they took over both Enron buildings) - no idea of how much available space they have. But they can surely get more as downtown office space is available.

1600 Louisiana includes a very large green space that could eventually be occupied by a third tower if needed.

Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio are as politically Left as Austin, they’ve just got blacks and Mexicans instead of Hipster Whites.

Yeah...pretty buildings. I bet they either build another tower or build out a new campus in the suburbs the way Exxon did.

John Bel Edwards >>>>> Jeff Landry as a governor.

That being said, Landry is not “hating the gays”. Resisting all the BS that the alphabet club tries to infuse into our society and culture is not the same as hating them.

I don't regret voting against Wilson. He's incompetent, and he'd have been a governor for New Orleans while thumbing his nose at the rest of the state.

But I'm not impressed with Landry at all so far. It's early, but he needs to put some points on the economic development board and secure funding for major infrastructure projects very soon. I'm not even seeing talk about progress there.

Agree with you here. But this isn't even a battle worth having right now, especially in Louisiana.

We'll see. Not impressed with Landry so far.

Attracting a few mid sized companies would change my mind. We should be looking at companies that have major operations in the state and try to encourage them to open up operations centers or even their HQ in the state.

But we've got to improve our infrastructure too. Otherwise they will leave the second the incentives dry up.

Landry has only been in office for less than a year, so I wouldn't expect him to get Chevron to move to New Orleans quite yet.

But my confidence level in him is very low. I don't think he's got the right priorities.

What about property taxes?

Still reasonable given what I get for good public schools and what I have left on my loan.

It hasn’t gotten its shite together in 200 years why would it now?

The states that will get fall out from Texas are Oklahoma, Mississippi and Arkansas. Louisiana is too far gone.

I would think that they’d either move the C-suite into the Enron towers or move it into a smaller dedicated C-suite office more on the outskirts. Seems like a lot of companies do that, separating the C-suite from day-to-day operations for whatever reason.

I wonder how many employees are actually moving though. They already have over 3x as many employees in TX as they do in CA, and all of the CA operations folks will be staying there. It might not be as big of a relocation as it sounds because so much of the company is already in Texas.

They bought Noble Energy and , i think, moved everyone out of Noble's campus in Tomball (NW Houston suburb), to downtown, right? I think those buildings in Tomball now sit empty? Maybe they will revamp and open that back up?

Some of those buildings in Tomball are very nice. That's a good spot honestly.

Not sure if that's big enough but there are a lot of options for their employees to find affordable, quality housing nearby that isn't too vulnerable to hurricanes.

They already have 7K employees in Tx vs 2K in CA. It was a natural move. like having the SECCG in ATL vs Bham

talked to a friend that is in the downtown real estate development business (as in he's built the last few towers in downtown over the past few years). Word is they will house everyone downtown. Expects they eventually build on that lot next to 1600 Louisiana (which they own, not lease).

Chevron downtown ain’t bad, but my meetings there are at like 11am . Eff commuting to downtown from the burbs ever morning, every day. I think their employees would be happier and they could attract more talent with a HQ outside of town like Exxon did . My guess at least.
