Also, that isn't a Mauser is it? Not exactly set up for top feeding.

Almost all internal magazine rifles are top loaded.

If it is a mauser its been sporterized. The resolution isn't good enough for me to tell exactly what it is, but I'm sure some military relic savant will show up and ID it.

The scope was definitely mounted by an idiot but that doesn't mean it couldn't work.

No I know I just mean mounting the scope like that would seem to mess with the feeding.

Right here, but you nailed it. it's most likely a German WWI or WWII rifle rebarreled to 30.06

Again, this is what the Democrats believe. Anyone supporting Democrats - this is your party.

Here we go....

I mean, isn’t this basically every Remington 700?

They use a Mauser action right?

That scope was installed by a retard.

I chuckled when I first saw it.

All bolt action rifles have scopes mounted directly above the action these days. That's totally normal. What I meant about the scope mounting is that the scope positioning is terrible, it's much too far back.

That's a military surplus rifle that has been converted into a hunting rifle. It's extremely common and you could likely find one similar to it at a random pawn shop within 20 miles of your house. Not long ago you could buy a surplus WW2 rifle out of a barrel at the local hardware store for $35.

No. All they really have in common is they are bolt actions but the actions are very different. The rifle pictured is almost certainly a WW2 military surplus rifle converted into a hunting rifle. There are literally millions of them out there.

I guessed he'd be found before the end of the day and I'm sticking to that. Likely quite a few people have seen that picture and knew immediately who it was.

I could have swore I read somewhere a long time ago that the 700s action was basically the same as the Mauser before Remington changed it up a few years ago

Yes, Remington used designs based on the Mauser action for some of its rifles, notably the Model 721/722 and later the Model 798. The bolt and receiver of the Model 721/722 were based on the Mauser design, and Remington also sold its Model 798, which featured a design virtually identical to the German Mauser 98.

That would be incorrect. The winchester model 70's were mauser clones. That doesn't appear to be what is in the picture though.

It really looks like a sporterized 1903 to me because it almost looks like it has a big rocker safety behind the bolt handle, but I'm not enough of a gun dood to tell from that picture.

I can just mainly tell that it was assembled by a dumbass.
