Not far from my house. This has been in a wild week in SW Florida. First a bank robber with a bomb threat gets greased by a SWAT sniper on Tuesday. Now this. Local news just said 2 people are dead.

Update: supposedly I75 is gonna be closed for at least 24 hours. Our traffic here is already insane, especially this time of year.

Race and gender of the pilots

Even if it were two women pilots (not that it matters) they have bigger balls than most of this board to dead stick a 30,000lb jet onto the interstate and avoid hitting all those houses right there.

Report is the left wing tip hit the road, spun it into the wall, and flipped more than once. Reports are 5 on board.

Terrible

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed two deaths after a twin-engine plane crashed on Interstate 75 near Naples.

FAA confirmed five people were on board the plane, a Bombardier Challenger 600, according to FlightAware.

According to Naples Airport’s communications director, three people made it out of the plane alive.

At around 3:15 p.m., Friday, a large plume of smoke was seen coming from the plane crash near mile marker 107 Pine Ridge Road on a Florida 511 camera.

That's amazing. I hope the 2 that did not make it died in the crash and not the fire.

I am wondering the same with them saying it came from Columbus

An OSU spokesperson said the plane was not affiliated with the university.

Flipped more than once, landed on the wheels, and the wings didn’t break off?

There are so many insanely wealthy people out there, not at all shocked to see the plane came in from Ohio.

Strangely, i took a trip about 5 yrs ago from NOLA to Siesta Key.. on the way back, i got stuck in an epic traffic jam because …….. a plane had landed on I75.. safely though, i think.. ill see if i can find the pics i took .

That is my exit. I live one mile from that successful landing.

Looks like it was potentially a charter flight from a Ft Lauderdale based company.

Dual engine failure is nearly unheard of.. and definitely a terrible situation to try to recover from at low altitude with little time to react.

So it destroyed a truck while crash landing? Any news on the people in the truck? It looked pretty messed up.
