quote:

Dearborn Catholic high school, a private school in Michigan, has a message for all the female students planning to attend Prom on May 12: Don’t wear anything even remotely revealing or else you’ll be given a “Modesty Poncho” at the door.
quote:

The ponchos are on display on mannequins inside the school. A note is attached to them that reads: “If your dress does not meet our formal dance dress requirements — no problem! We’ve got you covered — literally. This is our Modesty Poncho, which you’ll be given at the door. ??“
quote:

The problem with this — okay, one of many problems — is that there’s no single definition of “immodest.” What about a curvy girl whose dress isn’t really low cut but is slightly revealing? Does she have to wear this shoulder condom?

Funny how the same people who will call this being oppressive to women are the same ones who champion the hijab as a symbol of multicultural feminism.

it's a private school. i'm not religious and i think that both religion and this are stupid but if you don't like the rules send your child elsewhere. they need to dress according to the rules.

This is the only problem I see. Anytime you set some type of rule, it should be defined, otherwise there will be conflict. There will always be "but what about....."

Fat girls usually don’t have dates so don’t worry about them.

What about boys who identify as girls? Will their dresses be subject to this policy?

It's a Catholic school. They still teach proper genetics and biology there, I assume.

Private school. They can make their own rules. Don’t like them? Send your money and kids elsewhere.

That being said, adults have to follow dress codes every day. Whether it’s a work uniform or company dress code. Going into the world you need to realize this.

A lonely fat girl on prom night could suck a cake through a coffee straw.

Don’t discount them.

the note refers to the schools formal dress code. i assume that they have defined what they find acceptable in the student handbook or something
