Action is truth. I believe the apostle James says that. You want to talk about the recent outcomes of your non-heretical faith, Father Truth?

That’s exactly what I was thinking

Easy. Fake your own death and then show up at the funeral and kill yourself.

One, no sin is greater than the other in the eyes of the Lord. Two, I may be wrong, but I haven’t seen the verse about suicide. I’ve seem thou shalt not kill but I’m pretty sure that’s in reference to another human being. Three, just because one commits suicide does not bar them from heaven provided they’ve accepted Christ as their lord and savior

If one kills another it's a sin. One is forgiven by asking God for forgiveness. If you kill yourself, committing a sin, then how do you ask God for forgiveness?

If this wasnt the case why dont more Christians just kill themselves to just go to heaven? Or do Christians have the same belief as muslims do?

Btw - not looking to argue this, as we all have an opinion, and this is mine.

Who was it that decided that "asking for forgiveness" was limited to your life on earth? A human?

Or maybe you can recognize the clear hypocrisy of your "faith."

Do you really believe that if the Church suddenly declared that suicide is not a sin, Christians would start offing themselves in droves?

It's difficult to repent when you're dead. That's why Christian theology teaches that most people who commit suicide are likely barred from entering the Kingdom of Heaven.

Your confusing Christianity with Catholicism. Christianity doesn’t require confession through a human priest. Your salvation and forgiveness is based on Christ atoning for your sins as a one time sacrifice for all who choose to believe. So if your a Christian based on this, even if you die unexpectedly without unconfessed sin you can still attain heaven. Confession of sin is simply to keep fellowship with God as we strive to be more in his likeliness exemplified in the Bible. Suicide does not bar anyone from heaven, rejecting Christ does. That is the only unforgivable sin.
The Bible is pretty clear, anyone or any religion that adds to God’s word (the Bible) is heresy. The Bible does not teach works based salvation to get to heaven. If your “religion” teaches you can work your way to heaven, give enough money, or be a good enough person to get there, it’s not in compliance with God’s word. Not my words...look it up.

So you would have turned your son's funeral into a fistfight? Can you imagine the media headlines?

For example, " Keyboard warrior punches out pastor at own son's funeral". Wouldn't that be wonderful for the rest of your family during their grieving.

I hope your judgment IRL is better than when you are trying to cultivate a Billy Badass persona. fricking idiot!!!

JohnnyKilroy, what a great question.

I've had discussions of this with friends. If Heaven is being in the presence of God and Hell is being out of His presence, why can't a soul repent and seek God's forgiveness?

Too many people view God as a judgmental Being. Scripture is filled with God referring to us humans as "beloved". If we are indeed "beloved" by our Creator, wouldn't God's judgment be tempered by His Mercy?

I still question God's existence at times, but my staunch Catholic upbringing is firmly ingrained in me as is my Faith. I'm convinced that those who emphatically state who is saved and who is not saved will be very surprised by who may be sitting next to them in Heaven.

That's just my belief. Everyone is entitled to his/her own beliefs. But you raise an interesting question, JohnnyKilroy.

Now, it's back to work for me.

I think you are confusing your heretical beliefs with authentic Christianity. Any "Christian" who conforms to doctrines put forth by men such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Huldrych Zwingli are guilty of heresy and should not be confused as Christians.

I think this priest forgot the part in the Bible about who passes judgement. Clue is,

it's not the catholics or the pope.

Also then, what good is that early sprinkling? Just a question. Not a judgement.

absolutely boggles my mind how people can still associate with the Catholic Church. I could understand still following the tenets of Catholicism if the religion really speaks to you, but donating money to an organization that covered up an epidemic of child rape?

C'mon, use your brain.

Thank you for your post.

To me, this thread and countless other examples show the, despite what the actual bible says, specifically the NT, some christians seem to actively want god to be a judgmental, vengeful prick.

It seems like projection to me. These types of people seem to be more judgmental than average and they want their version of god to be the same way.

They paid to have the service by a priest based in a church with a set of beliefs.

Maybe the Catholic Church should have refused to provide the service for the sinner going to hell because he committed suicide? Has anyone seen the Catholic Church refuse anything that envolves money. Maybe the parents should have bought additional indulgence credits so their son’s soul can be released from purgatory.
