I’m close to a few priest and I’ve had one tell me privately that, in his view, the entire concept of hell runs counter to the idea of an omnipotent and loving God professed by the Church.

And those priests are what is wrong with the Church today. The Church of Nice has definitely taken over. It is no longer in the business of saving souls but in the business of wanting people to feel good about themselves.

Church doctrine and the teachings of the church are why I’m a Baptist, but not a good Baptist, and why It should be the same for Catholics, and probably every other religion. They use church doctrine and teachings to promote crap that not only isn’t in the Bible, but is in direct conflict with His word.

A sermon with no Biblical basis.

Agree to disagree. A Church that focuses on service to mankind, compassion, kindness, and love is superior to one that uses arachiac, unreasonable rules to scare people into conformity.

You mean “Catholic Christians.” Most Protestant churches follow a sola scriptura principle. Catholics believe the Bible is a source of truth. Baptist’s believe it is the source of truth.

There is some truth here. I’ve heard that what distinguishes most religions is which part of the Bible each ignores.

And then they will turn right around and tell you the wine darn near every man of God drank throughout the Bible was non-alcoholic, grape juice. Ignoring the hundreds of references to drunkenness, even by hand chosen men of God.

No doubt. The Bible is like a Rorschach ink blot. What you see in it reflects who you are to a large degree.

There are two types of Christians:

1. Catholic/Orthodox Christians
2. Heretics

The Catholic and Orthodox faiths, the two most ancient forms of Christianity, do not practice the heretical teaching of sola scriptura.

The Church should focus on all of that but it also must remind people that there are consequences to our actions.

The church has always been about increasing the reach and power of the church. There are countless good priests and others that want nothing but the best. But the church as an institution is completely corrupt.

Well there really is no such thing as a major sin in Gods eye. A sin is a sin no matter how big or small. There is also only one unforgivable sin and that’s already been committed and can never be committed again. This is all according to the Bible.

Do you honestly believe that if a 15 year old sees a gorgeous woman walking across the street and thinks sexual thoughts about her, and is then killed the next minute after being hit by bus, his soul is damned in hell for all of eternity?

The fact that you can type something like that, while purporting knowledge of the Holy Father and His son Jesus, only illustrates what the depravity of your church has done to you. Prayers.

So is now a good or bad time to bring up that our pets don't make it into Heaven either?
