Gilbert hit Jamaica as a Cat 3, and started ramping up to Cat 5 after it crossed over Jamaica. I hope they are ready like you say though.

Yeah this due north path is less than ideal. If it's hits Montego Bay directly we have a whole different story.

Okay. Why?

Because it's the third most powerful storm in recorded history and still strengthening as it enters the island. If some of these estimated wind gusts are correct, you're looking at gusts 50-80 MPH higher than Gilbert, Ivan or Dean had while in Jamaica. Maybe more.

Those were obviously very, very bad. But this is on another level when it comes to a hurricane making landfall while hitting peak intensity. Hopefully the track stays out of Montego Bay.

Looks like it's jogging north at landfall

Looking like it’s going to get rough for my wife’s family at the resort at Oyster Bay. They’ve registered with embassy and requested help from Cajun Navy, so maybe someone can get to them as quick as possible.

This is just ridiculous. They shouldn't get any help at all if someone isn't smart enough to get out of there in time

A lot of people had flights cancelled so the airlines could price gouge.

Hurricanes are one of nature's most amazing entities in existence. That giant wall of clouds is beautiful, even as destructive as it is.

I don't think I've ever seen such an almost perfect structure like that.

Those poor people are in for hell, God speed.

I heard this. I hope every airline that did this gets blasted on social media. They potentially created actual loss of life for those that couldn't afford to fly back home.

I keep looking off and on with it. I can’t tell if it is on a loop or not
