I don't think a casino would let you win $43M in any fashion.

I almost said I had never heard of a slot machine paying out that much...and I doubt whether one exists...but maybe.

In the late 90s a guy from Louisiana shut down a riverboat casino in Natchez, MS for a few hours - he won so much at blackjack that the casino fell below their mandated cash reserves - and had to shut it down.

The guy was a professional card player and was given a private seat at a high limit black jack table - he literally cleaned house.

Its like going to an ATM, pressing the $60 cash option and getting $400 in cash by machine malfunction. Are you entitled to that $400?

Bad analogy.

Since you're pulling money from your account, of course you're entitled to the $400.

A malfunction voids all plays and pays. There is nearly always a posted sign which states that, or it is in the state's casino regulations. The steak dinner is all she gets.

Then at the very least they should have paid out the $6500.
I'm pretty sure that's the going rate for casino restaurant steaks. She should be thankful for the $2 and change.

I lost on a slot machine once. I say it was a malfunction and I really won.

How many times does the slot machine "malfunction" and you NOT win when you should have?
No way the "independent" gaming commission would rule in your favor in that case.

Casinos are rigged, plain and simple.

Without reading the article, again, if I recall the posted max payout on the machine wasn't in the seven figures. Therefore the casino has a legit claim that the machine malfunctioned.

However, I suspect she'll still be able to settle for around what the max payout was.

For those not willing to investigate, the machine was set up to max out at $6500. She wasn't supposed to win anymore than that AT MOST. The $43 million is a complete malfunction for sure.

Although that may be true, did it specifically state on the machine that that was the max a person may win?

So if you click into this thread you get the casino ad to the right?

Count me in the group that says the casino should have paid the $6500 and been done with it. They will waste that much on lawyer fees before the judge awards that for a compromise anyway.
