Sometime our rigged games aren't rigged correctly so we paid some commissions off to make rules that say we don't have to pay all the suckers we steal from.

This.

I mean, Rule #1 in a casino, is "keep 'em playing". They like to have a big winner every so often to show off and keep the suckers spending money. "This could be you" kind of stuff.

But the house never loses. Deep down, at least, everybody knows that.

How many times does the slot machine "malfunction" and you NOT win when you should have?

just so we're clear

slots are literally programmed to pay out a certain %. it's all pre-sorted and not random. if you think you're going to a slot and it's fully randomized, you're wrong, man. sometimes they frick up and it doesn't count

for a tactile example, think of it like playing poker with a physical deck. the cards are already sorted and the pattern is set. however, if somebody, somehow, illegally tampered with that sort, then it's null and void

Without reading the article, again, if I recall the posted max payout on the machine wasn't in the seven figures. Therefore the casino has a legit claim that the machine malfunctioned.

However, I suspect she'll still be able to settle for around what the max payout was.

What is the point of a post like this on the second page of a thread?

Without knowing the details, I hope she wins

Casino should pay it out and sue the manufacturer of the machine if it was a true malfunction

She won't. The casino never loses, either on the floor or in court.

Well then, if I am her legal counsel, I play the race card hard....my client is a black woman...your casino thought she could be bought off with a steak dinner...say that in front of a jury a time or two.

I guarantee they didn't have that 6500 max advertised on the machine. No one would play

Nobody plays the slots looking for big money. The most I have ever seen one pay out is a few thousand.

The running casino joke for junkies is that everyone who frequents these places sees them come turn off a machine someone is winning big at, but you never see them come up to you and say, "Hey, you're losing your arse on this machine, we need to cut it off."

When the boats first opened in the 90's an aunt of mine won $12k on slots. My uncle says she lost ~$15k over the next 6 months and he took the credit cards away from her.

The dialogue from this scene alone made the movie.

The fact that they are basically saying, "you owe us money because you were smart enough to not allow us to just take your money" is asinine.

LINK

Here is a link to the applicable Nevada casino regulations concerning machine malfunctions.

Most other gambling jurisdictions mimic the Nevada regulations.

Q: Why are people denied a jackpot payment when a slot machine malfunctions?
A: With each pull of the handle, or push of the button, a slot machine begins the process of randomly selecting the next alignment of symbols. If a slot machine malfunctions it cannot complete the random selection process, and therefore reverts to a "tilt" mode. When a malfunction occurs some slot machine manufacturers, for engineering purposes, set the reels to stop briefly in a "jackpot" position. When this happens a player may see the reels momentarily stop at a jackpot alignment and then go into a slow spin. This often causes the player to believe a jackpot has been won. In recent years slot machine manufacturers have changed the "stop" location to other than a jackpot alignment to help prevent the misunderstanding.

Who the hell thought that was a great idea?
