You have any idea how compromised they are?

Somebody on here is stuck in Mexico right now with a wife and kids that wanted to go to Disney World but an all inclusive in PV was 1/4 of the price.
Still better than Disney World. Think of all the memories created on this trip.

We landed Saturday night. Flight was delayed out of CUN but that was weather related. Apparently the fires have begun starting in Cancun and Playa del Carman now as well. Our trip was absolutely amazing though. Sucks for the people stuck there currently but I’m guessing it subsides sooner than later.

I'm supposed to go to Sinaloa Mexico in March. Wonder if I can get a job with The Cartel?

It won't. Lol. The family you stay with most likely won't have AC.

Cartels aren't that dumb
Tourism benefits the economy and the cartels are deeply embedded in the economy, so tourism benefits them. Tourists are generally left alone. The few times tourists have been targeted have been mistaken identity or rogue elements that the cartels have apologized for. The airport attacks are against the government, not the tourists per se. Never say never, but I dont expect the resorts themselves to be targeted.
If that sounds like I'm defending the cartels, I'm not, but people act in their own interest, and it's in the cartels' interest to keep the tourism cash flowing.

As long as they don't burn down Xplor Park before we can get back there. My wife wants to go again.
A friend of mine has an office in Playa, and the guy who manages it for him lives in a resort. Hope he is OK.

Not just tourism but American companies as well
A lot of American companies have manufacturing and/or offices in Torreón, and I have done business there as well. The Government specifically tells the cartel leave Americans alone, and we won't bother you too much. We would fly in on my associate's jet so I was always worried they would think we were rich targets for ransom because no doubt the cartel watches the airport.
John Deere has a huge facility there and tells American execs that when they go down there they are only allowed to go from the plant to the designated hotel and they have security drive them to and from and stay at the hotel.
We used to stay at the same hotel and found out about John Deere's policy but we would go all over and eat. Some of the best steak I have had in my life I had in Torreón.
TD.com poster Lsaltee has also been to the same office and hotel so he can vouch for what I am saying.

This is one time the resorts might be hit because the USA participated in this action.

Dude just wants a 4PM check out in the middle of a cartel raid. Is that too much to ask for a platinum elite member?

Leaving a bad review on fricking Reddit in the middle of a cartel war? Talk about fricking disconnect from reality. Bragging about 1000 nights in a hotel?

We’re scheduled to be in Cancun middle of May, and my wife is freaking out worrying this will wreck everything. Usually it feels like this stuff gets isolated to pockets where only locals and cartels are affected. It spilling over into international settings like airports is pretty scary. Sucks, hope it simmers down over the next 2+ months!

When I was a child in the 1970s my grandfather ran operations for a company deep in Mexico. We would drive from New Orleans to see him but take a route that brought us down through Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. They loved gringos back then and our dollars.
Torreon was one of the stops, along with Saltiillo and Durango, on the beautiful drive from Monterrey to Mazatlan. It is a shame how those cities have devolved. We stayed at a hotel in Torreon called the Paradisio del Desierto. A repurposed chain hotel but the service was next level. I miss those days.

We had one for July.
I already didn't want to go to MX so this may be my opportunity to sway the group to go somewhere else.

Are you really that naive to the absolute size and force of the US military? They have equipment to dismantle them with ease

No offense to the Mexican police authority or government but what Pussies you all are. Handle the cartels once and for all. How pathetic. The cartels outgun them.
They don't outgun them. Government and police officials are in on the take. That's why they turn a blind eye.

And, no, you can’t dismantle an organization like this with ease.
We didn’t really do a bang up job with the taliban and Al Qaeda.
You could argue that we didn’t try hard enough, but with what it would take, it wouldn’t be “with ease”.
