Our best defense that would put a serious strain on cartel operations would be to lock down our borders and coasts at all costs. The Southern border would need to be impenetrable and coasts heavily guarded with serious firepower. You take away the American drug market and that puts a bigger damper on the cartels than killing 100s of their leaders.
Why not do both?

Keep us posted. Hope you guys get out soon!
Thanks man, It hasn't been horrible, we are about 3 miles from where the fires started this am. By this afternoon they had lit some closer to the resort but it seems like its dying down now. We can not leave the hotel and lots of the staff seem to be slowly leaving. It was tough to get food this afternoon. That is our biggest concern.
Hopefully flights will not be canceled tomorrow but we will see.

Hearing any gunshots in the street? What is the local news saying?

Local news has been silent, Mexican news is barley reporting it.
Haven't heard any gunshots but heard 2 or 3 of the car bombs this morning. Wasn't sure what they were at first...

Aeromexico: They suspended all flights to/from Guadalajara (along with Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, and Tepic) on February 22 due to road blockages and reduced staff availability. No clear confirmation on full resumption for the 23rd; their travel alerts page doesn't list a specific advisory for GDL, but expect potential ongoing cancellations or delays. They have a general protection policy for affected routes, allowing rebookings or refunds—contact them directly for your booking.
Volaris: Limited specific updates, but operations are impacted similarly to other Mexican carriers by access issues. Their alerts page doesn't have a targeted advisory for Jalisco/GDL as of now, but some domestic flights may resume if security stabilizes. They've offered changes/refunds for disrupted itineraries; check their site for real-time flight status.
VivaAerobus: Explicitly stated that road blockages and staff shortages impacted operations on the 22nd, leading to cancellations. No detailed update for the 23rd on their site, but they're providing rebooking options or refunds. Some limited flights might operate if conditions improve overnight.
American Airlines: They've cancelled flights to Guadalajara through February 24. Their official travel alert waives change fees for GDL flights originally scheduled February 22-24 (booked by Feb 21), allowing rebooks up to March 3 in the same cabin—fare differences may apply if upgrading. No operations expected at GDL on the 23rd based on this.
Delta: Issued a civil unrest advisory for Jalisco, covering GDL from February 22-26, with reported cancellations and diversions. Their advisories page doesn't list it specifically, but travel waivers are in place for voluntary changes without fees. Assume no or limited operations on the 23rd; rebook options extend to early March.
Alaska Airlines: Cancelled flights to Guadalajara (and Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo) amid the unrest. Their advisory page is down, but expect suspensions continuing into the 23rd. Waivers likely available for rebooking—check their site or app.
United: Cancelled flights to Guadalajara through February 25. Official alert for civil unrest in Jalisco covers GDL February 22-25, with waived change fees and fare differences for rebooks up to March 4 (same cabin/cities). No confirmed operations on the 23rd.
Air Canada: Suspended operations to Guadalajara (and Puerto Vallarta) on February 22-23. Their news page is inaccessible right now, but rebooking/waiver policies should apply. Likely no flights on the 23rd.
WestJet: Cancelled over 50 flights to Guadalajara (plus Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo), including 37 additional ones reported. Official security advisory for GDL February 22-24 offers $0 change/cancellation fees, with options to rebook within 60 days or get refunds/credits (details vary by fare type). Operations suspended on the 23rd.
Copa Airlines: Not heavily mentioned in disruptions; their alerts page is down, but flight trackers earlier showed some international routes (e.g., to Panama) potentially operating. No confirmed cancellations for GDL on the 23rd, but monitor closely as they could adjust.
Overall, most international carriers are erring on caution and suspending through at least the 23rd.

Haven’t been able to get a hold of them. Sent their reservation desk an email but I’m sure they have their hands full right now

If tweet fails to load, click here. Somebody on here is stuck in Mexico right now with a wife and kids that wanted to go to Disney World but an all inclusive in PV was 1/4 of the price.

Hope is powerful but also dangerous, or whatever Red says in Shawshank.
There are no flights coming in. That means there will be no flights going out. At least not tomorrow.

Brings back memories of Oldmanbeasley’s vacation to Chechnya in 94.

I hope this poster gets his family out. There is no telling if they would take hostages.

I think most who support the current administration are well past caring about what the far left wants.

If they know the United States assisted in any manner I think they will take US citizens as hostages.

No offense to the Mexican police authority or government but what Pussies you all are. Handle the cartels once and for all. How pathetic. The cartels outgun them.
Absolute anarchy.
Absolute anarchy.
