I don't want to drive the same car 250k miles. Reliability is nice but I prefer to spend my short time on this earth doing something more enjoyable than staring at asphalt all day or driving an old beater on my rounds.

And I prefer to have nicer and more frequent vacations with my family than have my net worth eroded by paying in perpetuity a car loan on a depreciating asset.

Nothing is a bigger waste of savings potential than rolling into a new vehicle every 2-3 years.

And not sure what you mean by staring at asphalt all day. People who have older paid off cars have to walk everywhere? You're not making sense.

Yeah, I haven't had a truck payment in several years now. I'm not sure I want to go back to having one anytime soon.

Ford F150 Here

I put 8K miles a year on mine so if I get 250k = 31.25 years

I don't want to keep a vehicle long enough to reach 250 thousand miles. I like shiny new stuff.

Currently at 215,557 on my F two-fiddy and still going strong I plan to top 300k before looking to get another.

ETA: sadly it will be a downgrade as a new truck comparable to my current 2012 is around $80-85k paid $50k brand new in 2012.

I’ve been looking hard at Raptors. I’ve always wanted one. But I’m not sure of the reliability and not sure I want a note.

Let's review the list in 10 years when the full impact of direct injection, CVTs, and small turbocharged engines have had their say.

The enshittification of the gasoline automobile is well underway.

There will be a crossover point with electric vehicles where they are more likely to hit 200k. There's just less going on.

If you need one….get whatever domestic full sized is on sale and keep it for at least 7-10 years.

Or get a mid trim Toyota once they figure out these engine failure issues and update the lackluster design of the Tundra.

Which group mostly drives trucks, and is that group more or less likely to have regular maintenance done on their vehicles?

This is why I'm keeping my 26 year old Dodge 2500 diesel. A new one like mine will run $90K.

That's nuts.

Not to mention that a tail light lens on the new one is $900 vs about $50.

Sounds somewhat made up to me.

Man that's great!! I have 255K on my 08 Silverado and hope mine can make it to that many miles. I can't afford a new one.

I'd be interested is calculations regarding mileage AND age of vehicle. Will the 2024 Tundra be able to make it to 250K miles? Probably. Will it last 15 years?

If I buy a 2024 Honda and travel a lot, maybe 50K miles a year, I can see it making it to 250K easily. Will that same Honda or Toyota's electronics last 15 years and 250K miles? I'm not hopeful.

Yeah age certainly presents some issues too, even with otherwise reliable vehicles.

My daughter is still driving my wife's old 2012 Accord. It was pretty flawless until it was about 10 years old, and then it cost us some money even though it had under 100k at the time. It's still been a good vehicle and still runs great.

Basically anything lexus or Toyota makes that isn’t a hybrid and even the Prius isn’t terrible, it just needs to have the battery pack replaced.

I had a 2001 Honda Accord that I bought brand new. It had 289K on it when my daughter totaled it. She named it James Hetfield when I gave it to her because she said it rode on lightening

My Silverado has 298,500, give or take 100 miles. Eagerly looking for 300,000 mile turnover. 350 engine still gets 17.9 mpg and does not burn a drop of oil between 3000 mile changes. Driving it is much cheaper than payments on a new one. Goal is to get an antique tag.
