Mom at Immaculata said it used to be the house all the girls dreamed about having one day on school bus rides.

All the crests on the facades used to have the "M" in stonework, but I can't tell if they are still present.

With a house that big why would you put the washer and dryer in the kitchen?

See this a lot in old houses that don’t get major renovations. House was built before washer/dryers existed so the only rooms that had plumbing were the kitchen and bathrooms. If you don’t want to pay to add plumbing to another section of the house, the kitchen is usually the only room big enough to fit the appliances.

I guess he had two places in the city? I thought Carlos Marcello lived at 577 Woodvine in Metairie?

Actually not in a bad neighborhood. Across 90 from archbishop shaw high school john Ehret is miles away. Houses behind there are decent. It’s just more of a commercial area being one block from hwy 90. Probably pretty noisy with the expressway

Such a bizarre location for what it is but I can only imagine what the area looked like in 1930. Wonder if this was his final home or just an earlier one?

It’s probably got a couple businesses ne t to it that would make it such a great deal.

Probably walking distance to a gas station called something like Al’s market.

A fried chicken store

A cell phone repair store.

That’s some serious value to me

I feel like this house has had some.... questionable tenants through the years. It was probably just easier to put them there. I'd have to guess previous owners also let a few other important repairs go by the wayside through the years.

Is a scavenger hunt on this property really a good idea?

I guess it could be worse if they did it at Churchill Farms behind Mosca's.

If you ever wondered just how full of shite a realtor is, read this description.

This historic Marrero home carries a story all its own, blending timeless character with an exceptional location. Conveniently situated with easy access throughout the metro area, this prime setting offers one of the simplest commutes available. Offering 4,139 living square feet, the home features four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and a half bath. A new roof, just one year young, adds peace of mind while preserving the home’s classic appeal. Set on an oversized lot, the property offers added privacy while maintaining its grand and welcoming presence. Original wood flooring throughout much of the home is complemented by abundant natural light that fills each space. Architectural details and classic finishes reflect the residence’s rich history, with much of its original character still beautifully intact. A truly distinctive home offering space, character, and location in the heart of Marrero.

Carlos was a distant family member. He was married to my grandmother's cousin. Never met the man. There was a family member or two that were associates of his on the gambling side of his business.
