Good

The City was packed during Memorial Day weekend and spotting a cop was like playing Where’s Waldo

Have the re-manned the French Quarter Precinct or are they still evacuated due to yesterday's "threat"?

Study after study has shown that incarceration, particularly of young people, increases recidivism rates, but sure, take your cheap swipes as though I give a shite

Car break ins a plenty and some actual car theft here and there. Not a whole lot of straight up car jacking though.

Lack of incarceration or consequence for criminal activity absolutely destroys our communities.

We are undoing everything that Giuliani fixed in New York.

Right - we just need more programs. Perhaps we can partner to form a midnight basketball league? Some SLAM poetry for good measure.

The whole map is very under-reported!

When my little bro went to Delgado he had his truck stolen. Cops didn't do shite. Then the truck was found abandoned and totaled on the other side of town, and the cops called my step dad, basically laughing at him, telling him that they would send him a bill for the towing.

When a city's leaders broadcasts that there will be no punishment for these crimes, then there will be an increase in said crimes. All you can do is move out and let the city become the mad max fantasy that the leaders want it to be.

Really has me thinking about renting a car to go to NOLA instead of taking my own.

You probably don't even own a car and you're downplaying it because nobody is bikejacking people out there, so you're good.

Yep, literally no other options between locking people in cages for long stretches of time and midnight basketball leagues

Surprised to see so many in Bywater area. I figured most of them rode unicycles.

Did they miss a statue somewhere? Clearly appeasing the natives is not working.

Victim shaming

The problem is the hoodlums, not the victim

Victims fault. Should have kept their head on a swivel.

The problem is, the law abiding public will basically always be the guinea pigs for your possible alternatives.

I would also question as to whether all these studies are looking at similarly situated criminals. Or might not the ones who are actually being incarcerated be the ones who tend to have a greater general proclivity to recidivism? Chicken or the egg, so to speak.

Shifting funding from base incarceration to vastly more intensive probation supervision involving job training and placement on the lighter end and robust Reentry Court programs on the heavier end. For starters.
