Hope the WSJ isn't too highbrow for the OT.

I'm pretty sure this guy posts here:

some counter-intuitive facts and interesting tid-bits:
quote:

Sales of cargo shorts have fallen over the past year for the first time in a decade

quote:

Neiman Marcus sells linen cargo shorts for $995 a pair

quote:

Style experts say the cyclical nature of mass fashion means cargo pants will almost certainly become trendy again

Just glad I've reached the point in my life where comfort and convenience are what appeal to me. I have 1 pair of old cargo shorts that have been beaten into submission. They provide the most room for my saggy old balls and I can carry all my stuff without strapping on a murse or fanny pack.

But to all the young dudes out there...continue to fight that fashion fight.

I can't get over guys that wear these in the heat of the summer. Paired up with two guys playing golf last weekend. It was hot as balls and they both had these heavy, clunky cargos on. Never understood where the fad came from. It makes zero sense.

For some reason, people liked baggy stuff in the 90s.

I like those outdoor/trail shorts that you can find at Cabelas or Bass Pro. It is lighter and tighter, but you still have a good amount of pocket space. Good for hiking and in everyday life.

Cargo shorts are great for fishing and not all brands are hot. On the Golf course they are a no go though.

I had a few pair in the mid 2000's. I haven't worn a pair in several years, though. I found them uncomfortable and a little silly looking.

Cargos are for lazy guys that won't get off their arse and go buy a pair of updated shorts.

I don't see anything wrong with the second pair.

The first ones look like something a woman would wear- can't fit my retractable bowstaff in that froo-froo shite.

Buying "updated shorts" purely for stylistic purposes is for femmes.

If we are going to make fun of men's fashion, at least focus on these.

When I am wearing a nice shirt/polo shirt, I never wear cargo shorts. Ever.

But cargo shorts do have a place. When I go camping, hiking, fishing or doing outside work I prefer cargo shorts. But never in "public"

Exactly.

All multi-pocket shorts are not created equal.
