Lots of uninsured drivers and a high jury trial threshold, and Gordon.

Rates are 58% higher than the national average...that will lead to uninsured motorists (they can't afford it), which leads to more lawsuits. Viscous cycle.

That's what I'm going to do. The whole reason I didn't get it changed before now was because they were gonna charge me $500 to do it. They have no way to prove that I went and changed it myself, got hit with another rock last week, and want to file a new claim next week.

As long as you have a receipt for the mythical replacement window you will be fine.

Plus, they will have documented your call. Why are you trying to commit insurance fraud over $400?

This is why auto insurance is so high in louisiana. We file a claim for anything and everything.

I hope your agent reads the OT.

It won’t matter. The notes in this dummy’s file will alert the carrier next week when he commits insurance fraud.

Insurance sucks. But, for an agency to be profitable, it needs less than a 65% loss ratio. Meaning, an agency takes in $100k per year, it’s considered good if the losses are less than $65k.

that's what you pay out of pocket if you have a comprehensive or collision claim. The higher your deductible the less you insurance would be, but you're coming out of pocket more.

Correct. I'm asky why someone would want it to be $100 if they could afford more out of pocket in the event a claim is made. All of my auto deductibles are $1000+. They're as high as my auto loan allowed.

The difference in premium is nominal. The cost of car insurance is mainly Liability Coverage, not coverage on your own vehicle

But I thought trial attorneys like Gordon Mckernan were the problem??? Surely this is because of him!!

The OP being a fool doesn't let Gordon off the hook.

I understand liability is the main driver, but you're paying for that low or $0 deductible. I'd rather have it in my pocket.

Hit your windshield with a hammer, now you have new damage so your insurance will honor the $100 deductible.

You're far better off, mathematically, with as high a deductible as you can afford.

and people scream that trial lawyers are the problem.

An insurance company’s primary goal is to do whatever it takes to not uphold their end of the bargain.

Only a trial lawyer can read the OP and think the insurance company is at fault.

It's a few dollars per month difference. I carry zero deductibles on my truck. Switching to $1000 deductibles would save me $13 a month. It would take me 5-7 years to match the amount I'd have to pay out of pocket with a 1000 deductible for just one accident. that's just not worth it to me.

I'm also an agent so I see people make these decisions to save a few bucks and then not like the consequences come claim time. Moreso on the liability side admittedly.

What end are they not upholding? you do realize that as part of the insurance contract your duty as a policy holder is to report claims in a timely manner and oh by the way not commit insurance fraud?

Sounds like you owe $500. What makes you think differently?

I get it, but you obviously know the numbers are in your favor as the driver. Insurance companies aren't giving you a deal.

Well if everybody with a minor fender bender wouldn't get lawyered up, we wouldn't be in this mess. BTW I hate insurance companies.
