Hell, you can buy easy mods for most vehicles now, increasing the HP of even common cars. It's nice to have access to it.

Not sure what Mustang and Camaro are doing.

They've had turn-key options with over 700hp. GT500KR from 2020 and 2021 are 900hp.

I agree the horsepower is out of control.

Those US cars you're talking about all cost 6 figures now though and they're tough to get.

It is pretty wild to think you can go buy a base Mustang GT with 450HP for $36,200. That's almost double the power of the 2002 model. Adjusting for inflation, the base 2002 Mustang GT cost $31,600.

Some old af baw in my neighborhood drove by with a brand new lucid air dream

For those unaware, it has 1100 horsepower and over 1000 ftlbs of torque.
Good for him but the dude looked like.he was in his mid 80s at best lol.

I agree that the HP/performance arms race we are in now has gotten dumb as hell. Aside from paper racing I'm not sure how much fun it is to drive a car that only capable of using 10-15% of its capabilities in normal day to day driving.

It's one thing to have say 400-500 hp. You can have a good time without going nuts with something like that. It's a whole nother ball game when you have well over 1000 hp.

And some of the ultra halo type cars like the Aston Valkerie is a legitimate le mans prototype car that is street legal. That's insano lol.

That's how I'd characterize pretty much any supersport bike made in the last 20 years The occasional blast down I10 on my early morning commutes with my R6 was fun. Never needed to go that fast, but knowing you could ever once in a while made it interesting.

It will not surprise me when this so called Plug in electric vehicle fad gets hotter and they have enough on the road to show accident rates, that with the flip of a switch through the control system the hp will go down.

Trucks are getting as ridiculous as the cars.

Funny thing is a 255HP Vortec in a late 90's Chevy C/K feels quicker around town than most of these new trucks as you don't have to rev it to get the power. Torque right off idle.
