eta-I know exactly what torque management does. It prevented me from pulling a friend out of the ditch with my Avalanche even in low range. Foot on the floor and it just sat there against the converter. Not a bit of wheelslip.
Drove a buddy's SS Camaro. I gave it hell and had too hard a hard time breaking traction.
I had assumed it'd be easy to do, but even throwing it into a 90 and mashing the gas it didn't really want to step out.
I guess it's got the same type of system you're talking about here.

Read the above posts.
A guy asked why his 381HP Toyota doesn't feel faster than his 255HP 97 Hoe. I told him why.
Now you come swinging in on a vine throwing out all kinds of other shite that does not apply.
He's not drag racing. He's talking about daily driving and how the vehicle feels.

Probably had the traction or stability control on. SS Camaros shouldn't have much trouble lighting them up.

I turned off one of them, but there's a process to get it all off.
Shouldn't have been as difficult as it was though. I've driven mustangs from gt-gt350 and didn't have much trouble.
Side note: I hate sitting in a Camaro. Feels like a coffin and you can't see a single corner of the car, and nothing behind your shoulders... So let's give it 500hp! Haha

Yeah. They look decent from the outside but from the drivers seat it's like you're in a Sherman tank with the visibility.

IDK much about these cars but do they have superchargers to compress the fuel/O2 mixture? How are these engines getting this HP?
The short answer is yes but modern turbos are generally considered superior to superchargers.
Anytime you want more than about 120hp per liter with road-going tractability you are going to have to pressurize the charge.
The benefit of superchargers is the fact they are powered off the crank they have no "lag" and the power is more or less instantaneous or at least closer to a naturally aspirated engine. They do make it hard to use intercoolers to cool the charge and have other packaging issues that turbos don't have.
Modern turbo systems have significantly reduced the turbo lag through a variety of means, are easier to package with intercoolers, and don't have the parasitic losses of superchargers since they use the exhaust gasses to power the compressor fan. They each have a characteristic aural signature but turbos tend to muffle the exhaust sound.

Saw one supercharged Silverado (why, I don't know either) that used some sort of alcohol (methanol?) mixture to help cool the charge.
Used the washer fluid reservoir for it. Neat setup.

Thats even worse. That toyota probably makes double the torque of a vortec 350 at the bottom end.
The new ones don't "feel" as peppy as the old ones because we've forgotten how slow and weak the old stuff was. I drove a mid 90's z71 with a vortec 350 about a month ago. Do that, and then go drive a tundra, and it'll feel like you're driving a formula 1 car. It's just nostalgia bias, and the numbers prove it.

My buddy wanted be to take a 6 hour road trip with him in his kid’s Camero, I m 6’3” and normally drive a Tundra. I got in the thing and immediately got claustrophobia. Told him to get another vehicle or I wasn’t going.

Meth injection works, but it’s hard on the impeller and god help you if you don’t have the right Nannie’s in place to yank all the timing if the pump failed or you run out of meth.

The guy owns both. If you read his post you would know this.
I owned a 2000 Silvy bought new. It didn't feel as peppy around town as a '97. On the highway it was much quicker passing if one floored it.
Get it through your head the discussion is not about 0-60 times.

Yeah it's the top of the line honda accord, but you can get it with 252 hp and a 10 speed transmission. 35-38k. I know because we looked at one recently to get as a daily run around car. I kind of enjoyed it because it can get up to speed like my diesel, which is older but still quick to get to speed when not towing. When I get in my 2004 v6 Sierra, it takes a bit to get up to interstate speed. Obviously none of these are like some of the high level stuff in op, but I get the joy in it. However, I wouldn't spend the 70k or so for a hellcat.

Indeed. I had water/meth injection on my 996 and could get +60hp with a conservative street tune. With E85 available everywhere now it just doesn't make sense in a street car because if the system(s) fail you can have a melt down really fast.

Yep. Even pump e85 is a better option, but if you’re going to go through the trouble of getting M1 and watering it down you might as well get E85R and have less issues. I went a step further and have E98R in the garage.

What dyno numbers you put down on your 996?

Maybe I just use more gas pedal or something, but my seat dyno definitely disagrees. Every tundra I ever drove felt like it had loads of torque. Same goes for every 5.3 truck I ever drove.

98% ethanol?
Yep
E85 pump = ~70%
E85R = 85%
E98R = 98%

775/760 to the wheels. Nothing radical.
