Even window switches need to be flashed on the Tech so the body computer recognizes it. Been that way for years.
All to make you have to take it to the dealer.
The update itself cost $400. That's like having to pay Microsoft every time an update comes through.

Not necessarily that. Management will push people to do unnecessary expenses "while the car is in the shop".
Service advisors get commission around here so yes they do benefit from pushing questionable work.
Even the parts manager makes commission.

Its a damn shame. A good mechanic who ain't a theif is almost as hard to find as a good wife and about as important.
I have gone back to fixing them myself. I hate it and I ain't good at it but at least when I am fricking myself I enjoy the ending....

Lincoln Corsair had crack in tail light and it had water in it and wouldn't work. Ford wanted $1,000 for new tail light assembly and $500 labor. I bought a used one on ebay for $150-ish and replaced it in about 15 minutes.

Dealerships make more off Service than anything else. It's the most profitable part of a Dealership.
They basically sell you the car, to scam you on the repairs.
On va soinger ton char, comme tu es un con!

Clearly you've never been to a Dealership.
More than I can count unfortunately.

Must be a Porsche with center lock wheels. Thats why the tires are shot at 10k and the center nut is a PITA. I think Porsche New Orleans charges $150 per wheel surcharge if you have those.
It’s on a $250,000+ street legal racecar. We’re not talking Boxsters and Maycans which come with 5 lugs. I’m thinking the buyers will be okay.

IDK why anyone would bring their car to a stealership except for free warranty work. They mostly hire moderately functional retards and glorified parts changers.
Most of the time I'd rather pay than have my time wasted. It's worth my money to not be without my car for a fricking week

The best part, they quoted me $950 plus $275 for balance PER tire. WTF
That's why you've gotta find a good indy shop, baw.

quote:pretty sure you can get them on a 911 GTS as well. It was just a statement about the other post with the $275 mounting fee. I know because I’ve been quoted that. I used Vinnies Exotics in BR to mount mine. Much more reasonable.

Brought the vehicle in to get a check engine light looked into
Why not just take it to the local parts store. They will check it for free and tell you what the code is that is causing the light to be on. You’re a glutton for punishment bringing a car to a dealership to have them figure out what is causing the check engine light to illuminate. And why in the hell are you leaving your vehicle at the dealership for a week because of that light

The last time I took mine to the dealer, they changed oil. They added an extra quart of oil that I had to drain out.

You got that quote in writing, right?

I called one to bring my truck in and the next available appointment was in like 3 weeks. That was an appointment to drop off and they couldn’t tell me how long it would sit there before they could look at it. This is the same dealership that would come pick it up at my office and leave me a loaner 5 years ago
Just another example of how life in America is becoming (has become ?) unliveable in almost every conceivable way.. USA is a shithole country .

Called Hyundai to get a part I needed. They quoted me $1,300.00. I asked for the part number, went on ebay and found the same brand new OEM part for $350.00. Scumbags.

Man, I would stick those little weights on there all day at that price. That's like charging $5,000 to mow someone's lawn. I would get my little Harbor Freight tire-balancing machine plated in gold

I will say when my wife had the Mercedes GLS, that dealership service department was great. All warranty work and regular maintenance but she looked forward to going there
Sounds like she was using that as an excuse to hook up with Jody.

I don't trust dealerships. Buy a decent scan tool
I have a Ford one and a BMW one and a Toyota one. I can interface and change programming on each. Disable and enable functions. Killed the TPMS on all my cars. Got tired of buying sensors. Used ABS sensors to enable FTM on the BMW. (GERMAN cars you HAVEZ TO have a computer/programmer to do diy work)
Dealerships can have some good techs. I got screwed over hard by Ford Truck center repair. And Lamarque made it right and fast tracked my transmission repair.
Still I prefer to do everything myself if I can. Other than body work and tire mounting.

I can’t believe that you don’t know to go to AutoZone or O’Reilly and they will check it out and let you know and give you a print out of what the issue is or could be for free!
You should be able to check your own damn tires.
If you can’t do any of that you shouldn’t be owning a vehicle.
