Calling it the quickest car in the world.
I don’t consider myself a Tesla fanboy, but holy shite those numbers are nuts.

In addition to unveiling its new electric Semi Truck, Tesla also dished details on its next-generation Roadster. Tesla calls the all-wheel-drive EV the "quickest car in the world," with a claimed 0-60 mile-per-hour time of just 1.9 seconds. The sprint to 100 mph takes only 4.2 seconds, and its top speed is over 250 mph. Tesla didn't reveal horsepower or kilowatt figures, but said wheel torque is 10,000 Newton-meters, or 7,375 pound-feet. That translates to a quarter-mile time of 8.8 seconds.

I'm not an OT baller, so I can't afford one, but if I could, I'd get one in a heartbeat. That's just a badass vehicle.

The last thing I want is some A-hole driving this thing on public highways...

I'd be more surprised if they turned a profit without massive subsidies...

Let me order one now, so they can never make it.

They're not even trying anymore to act like they're not vaporware.
Let me know when they have that backlog of model 3 orders fulfilled.

They introduced it along with the semi tractor. When the 0-60 times dip below 2.5 seconds you are beginning to reach the limit of current DOT legal tires.
Acceleration is certainly a huge advantage for electric motor driven cars, the availability of 100% of the torque from 0 rpm is something engines can never match.

Makes a badass car like that and can't even get a text-back.

I'm sending one of my drivers for a test spin this weekend.

It’s crazy fast, and has a 600+ mile range.
Starts at $200k though. With another version at $250k.

Whenever he says it is available for sale, add 36 months to it.

I knew he had to be working on something like that - this was an announcement splash to try to bolster the stock price (it didn't work).
They're spread too thin. He should have turned 100% focus on fixing the 3 production, pushing back the semi and roadster announcements until then. It's not like those are going to be flying off the assembly line in 2018 or even 2019. Both are long term prestige products, particularly the roadster. They only made 2500 of the first gen roadsters (and even then, because they had a supply of Lotus cars as a base available) spread over 5 model years.
The semi will take a decade, IMHO, to make a dent in the market, if ever.

FIFY
By the time this is sold, everyone from BMW to General Motors will be on their third generation of EV tech.

The only thing holding electric cars back from dominating the car and light truck market is the battery issue - once that's solved, gasoline is dead.
So, get your truck nuts paid off quickly, oilfield baws, 20, 25 years could be it.
