Legalization was a terrible move to make and demonstrates the corrupt nature of our state political system once again. There are many who walk among us who just don't have the sense to recognize that daily use of anything mind altering will have negative long term consequences for themselves and the general population.

Corruption is keeping it illegal to prop up alcohol/tobacco companies and to fill beds and coffers with inmates and fines to support the prison industrial complex.

Who gives a shite if it’s good for you. That’s not an excuse for it to be illegal.

people under the age of 50 who consume marijuana are about 6.2 times more likely to experience a myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, than non-marijuana users. Young marijuana users are also 4.3 times more likely to experience an ischemic stroke and 2 times more likely to experience heart failure

I'm not sure what the numbers are here, but always be wary of news articles saying things like this without context in an attempt to sensationalize and scare people.

2x more likely to experience heart failure if the previous number was 0.1% chance would be...0.2%

Ehh relying on people to tell the truth about their marijuana and or tobacco use.

Weed is still illegal federally and in some states. Not everyone is running around telling everyone they smoke weed.

I have to question this as Snoop seems to be is a haze 24 / 7 / 365 and never hear he has heart issues.

it just took legalization of it to provide the data to show just how bad it is. This is likely the tip of the iceberg and I expect many forthcoming studies in the decades to come to show other negative outcomes, from psychiatric illnesses to cancers.

We had all this before marijuana was legal in some states.

Plus, God put weed here.

What are your thoughts on the rapid rise in cancer since the Covid shot roll out?

COVID lockdowns killed more people than weed.

Yeah, but alcohol is legal, so it can’t be as bad as the heart stopping devils lettuce laced with fentanyl

Does the study define consume/use?

I would assume there is a big difference between daily, 2/week, and occasional/social.

Also curious if the study separates by consumption methods. Seems like there would be a difference in smoked/vaped THC and eating/drinking. (Sublingual drops is a 3rd option too).

All of those people would have been better off not taking anything. But def better off if they smoked weed and watched a movie instead of drinking themselves to death.

This is what I came to say as well.

This reminds me of the study I read that said people who drink caffeine early in the morning are less likely to have heart problem and are healthier than people who do in the late morning and afternoon. Nevermind the fact the people drinking it earlier were probably also just more productive and active in their day waking up hours before the other participants.

Any study yet on the effects of both alcohol and cannabis being used at the same time? Asking for a friend.

The majority of the most successful executives I work with all over the country (with the exception of the south) rarely partake in casual drinking, but openly discuss THC edibles as the go to. It is extremely common and not a topic that’s viewed as “alternative”. Some of these people are the definition of health.

It is only when I skim the OT on a south Louisiana based website that you find people who believe THC is from the devil and still call it “pot”
