This topic is just another example of how people fight for their chosen cult with religious fervor.
Anything that references a negative aspect of weed results in a hyper-religious objection by those who support it, and vice versa.
Marijuana has side effects, some more severe than others, and this is becoming more pronounced and notable as the strength of the THC increases in the strains of marijuana that are being cultivated.
The data point in the OP does not surprise Scruffy.
And, as an aside, marijuana smells fricking horrible.

I've used a little indica every night for years. Pot isnt the miracle people pretend it is, there are some tradeoffs.
It does a couple things well, but prolonged use can lead to some fricked up thoughts.

I think dopeheads annoy people with their high and mighty attitudes, so they get pushback on it
And yes it smells horrible, do it in your home if you’re going do it

idk, maybe it has something to do with our government's century long propaganda campaign to convince people that its dangerous and making it illegal, and the fact that big corporations spend millions of dollars to lobby against and slander competitors to protect their massive profits. Makes people just a tad skeptical. Just a wild guess.

A lot of things we smell outside day to day smell bad, yet I only see people whining about the smell of marijuana. Weird.

It is amazing how everyone rejects all those claims about liver disease, heart disease, and cancer regarding alcohol use.
Wait, are we not supposed to reject all things negative about alcohol?

Yes, there are a lot of things that smell horrible, but marijuana’s horrific smell is everywhere now.
60% of the parents who bring their kids to the ER stink of weed.

There is hard, concrete science behind the negative affects of alcohol. Thousands of people per year die in the U.S. from alcohol related issues. Its observable. There is undeniable proof.
A study like in the OP, like most of the studies you see that come out about the dangers of marijuana, is not even close to being scientifically verifiable.
The two things are very clearly not the same. You are a doctor. You know this.

Negatives regarding marijuana use cannot be spread.
There are a large number of verified side effects of marijuana use, you do know this right?
As for the OP, if that is real, we need to know, especially since MJ is becoming more commonplace.
I am not advocating that it be made illegal. I am advocating for potheads to stop acting like it is the greatest thing in existence and has no negative side effects or long term issues.
Yes, yes, we all know it isn’t addictive. You could quit it if you wanted to…you just don’t want to.

I think you mean that people whose clothes reek of stale marijuana smoke smell horrible? Those people annoy me too.
I smoke most weekend nights and everything I’ve bought the last ten to fifteen years smells amazing.

Why do non users have an opinion? If you don’t want to use it don’t. If you do, do. Who gives a shite?

So?
I think having available information to make your choice is good but we don't stop people from going to taco bell or drinking themselves to death Shouldn't be able to stop the potheads.
And no, I don't smoke.

I am aware, I never argued otherwise. I replied to your post that claimed that people's skepticism towards shaky causation=/=correlation marijuana studies like the one in the OP is due to some cult-like mentality of unconditional denial, rather than the fact that we've been fed lies regarding marijuana for decades by people in power.

So this study is BS
This wasn't a clinical study but a study of previous clinical studies.

have some caution in interpreting the findings in that cannabis consumption is usually associated with other substances such as cocaine or other illicit drugs that are not accounted for,”

due to inconsistencies in the data available from each study, researchers were unable to account for several potential confounding factors including the duration and amount of cannabis use or the use of tobacco or other drugs.

Taken individually, seven of the studies found a significant positive association between cannabis use and heart attack incidence, while four showed no significant difference and one showed a slightly negative association.

quote:Yes, and now that MJ is generally accepted (for the most part), especially by the progressive institutions, of which medicine is one, the skepticism and rejection of all information based off of that past viewpoint is largely moot.

So, in summary, yes, the continued rejection of all things critical of marijuana is a cult-like religious mindset.

I was unaware smelling like weed was proof of impairment, or proof they drove. Scruffy like to

I find most meta-data studies to be bad. They cherry pick studies that support their hypothesis and throw out ones that don't.
