Of course, it would only cancel for the graduates who are working at Starbucks making less than $30k a year.

I still have a sizable student loan, but even washing that debt will not get me to vote for that crazy bitch.
Yeah uh if someone told me before I voted, “ here’s $20k, vote for so and so” I would.
Problem with this democrat is I don’t believe it would ever come to fruition if she actually won. They say it now to get the votes, then make excuses in office to why it won’t happen.

I can support this if they make student loans illegal afterwards.
Right.....if your gonna do this don't give out any more government funded or subsidized student loans. Let the private market handle them like all other loans.

She better make it retroactive...not fair that I, my wife, and my sons already paid off their student debt.

So, what happens to future college students? Are we only rewarding those with CURRENT student loan debt? What about the kids going to college in 4 years? Just bad luck for them?
This is why voting Democrat is ALWAYS a stupid choice. There is no logic or reason behind any of their grand plans. It's simply vote buying for the stupidest among us. Yes, if you are in favor of this plan, you are stupid.
ETA: also, student loan debt only started ballooning out of control the second the federal government took over handling student loans. Another solution from government for a problem created by the government.

Well if she does that...I want reparations for paying mine off on time.

Oddly enough I'll be paying my last installment on some student loans around November. Hope this isn't my terrible luck giving me an omen that this Socialist will win.

I sure wish I owed a lot of money to Warren right now.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren says she’d order her secretary of education to cancel up to $50,000 in college debt for about 95% of student borrowers on her first day in office, effectively creating a student loan collapse akin to the 2008 housing market collapse.
FIFY.
These people are so fricking ignorant it's amazing they haven't Darwined themselves yet.
Say it with me kids..

Just as I finish off paying mine.
It's scarlet letter time if this ever happened.

I am locked in around 2, or 3% interest, so there is a lot of other things to do with my money than can offset the payment. I truly believe having her, or any other democrat, in office, will cost me more in lost business and bonuses.

Should have the colleges pay it off since they are the ones fleecing everyone.
Posted on 1/15/20 at 7:43 am to lsu xman
Will they repay me the amount of student loan debt that I paid off? Why should I be punished by actually paying by the terms of my agreement and paying it back on time? A loan is a fricking loan. I, and everyone else, knew what we were signing up for when we submitted our loan applications. The problem is our government has no problem lending money to people studying asinine subjects that have zero real-world applications and that cost upwards of $100,000 and then they act shocked that they can’t find a job to repay their debt. If the government wants to be in student loan business, then they need to start looking cases critically.

Why not just make the interest rates for student loans capped at 1-2%?
This is the real solution. It would help a lot of people pay their loans off because I know tons that are just paying the interest because that’s all they can afford.

This only helps the rich. Its the privileged rich kids who have student loan debt.
wouldn't privileged rich kids have zero student debt?

They are in the student loan business. They took over the student loan business from the banks about 9 years ago i think. It's why student loan debt is a "problem" nowadays. Because the fedgov is in charge of it. Just like the subprime mortgage loans, and everything else they touch. They took over a job that should be conducted by banks, and operated it based on feels, not on whether or not the person seeking the loan was at risk of not paying back the loan.

This doesn't cancel any debt.
This transfers responsibility from the person who agreed to the loan to others who did not agree to the loan.
Yep. I paid for my college and didn't take out loans. Now I'm going to be partially responsible for paying the debt of others?

My wife and I paid off roughly $24k of our remaining student loan debt this past November.
If they cancel it all now, I'll be a little pissed.
Of course we probably make too much money to qualify for whatever forgiveness plan that would be made available anyway so it wouldn't matter.
