Yep. I paid for my college and didn't take out loans. Now I'm going to be partially responsible for paying the debt of others?
This is 'Murica, where you work hard your entire life to support worthless fricks.

This is like the kid running for student body president who promises no more homework and more junk food in the cafeteria. She’s desperate for votes.

They are in the student loan business. They took over the student loan business from the banks about 9 years ago i think.
I'm aware that they're in the business, all of my student loans were gov't loans because the interest rates were so much better than those of private lenders. There are still private loans to be had, but you generally pay a much higher interest rate.

Because the fedgov is in charge of it. Just like the subprime mortgage loans, and everything else they touch. They took over a job that should be conducted by banks, and operated it based on feels, not on whether or not the person seeking the loan was at risk of not paying back the loan.
This is the case I was making. If the government wants to provide student loans, then they have to start looking at it critically. Otherwise, it's just free higher education that you, I, and everyone else pays for even if we don't use the service.

BINGO.
Free advice. If it looks like there is even a chance she’ll win, get every penny you have out of US equities. Her plan to force about 50% of US publicly traded companies to break up and unwind previous mergers/acquisitions will create a level of uncertainty and chaos that’ll make 2008 look like a fart in the wind.
Gonna need to sit out at least the first 24 months of a Warren presidency

People who paid their own way should get a check for $5,000

Even lefties like Zuckerberg don't want Warren. She'd be a terrible president. Bernie wouldn't be much better either.

How is this not blatant election fraud via laws against vote buying?

The allure of government handouts is pretty much the entire Democrat platform

Seems unfair to the students who worked hard and paid off their loans.
Like many people have said when this subject has come up before, I’d be happy to not have anyone else have to go through the stress I had paying off all my student loans. It’s not unfair to anyone, it’s long overdue.

And these "educated" dumb asses will praise her and vote for her.
Not realizing this a transfer of debt responsibility. Nothing is free in this life, no matter what bullshite deal or people tell you. Someone somewhere is paying.

How is it not unfair to people like me that didn't take out any loans but would be asked to pay higher taxes for those that did?

If you invest in a degree that doesn't reward you enough to pay off the loan... Maybe that program shouldn't exist.
We have a winner.
This is why the university should be the guarantor of the loan.

But this would actually put MORE people through the stress of paying off student loans (via higher taxes).
As mentioned earlier, all this does is transfer the responsibility of paying off student loans away from those who took out the loans to those who didn’t (the taxpayers).

The frick it is. You took the loans out, pay them back. Period.
I'm not here to pay your fricking loans.

Fixing the problem is overdue. Not shifting the responsibility for the bill over to others.
This does nothing to fix the issues that have created this student debt monster -- in fact, it will only exacerbate the problem.
Those who put out the loans will still get paid -- in fact, some would argue that they'd get paid at a much more consistent level than they are now as defaults would shrink.
Then more people will seek more loans that don't equate to real earning potential -- why? Because the government will catch the bill.
And with the government as your co-signer, don't you expect the lenders will be jacking up costs in an effort to squeeze every subsidized penny out of the taxpayers?
I'm admittedly a liberal leaning voter -- but this Robin Hood shite is not going to work unless you are addressing the sickness and not just the symptoms.

Screw that. If you borrowed it, pay it back. Is that such a hard concept to grasp?
If you borrowed it and don't pay it back... screw you.
